Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Baratas .com) - Dave Bolland scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lift the Florida Panthers over the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Thursday night. The Panthers needed an NHL-record 20 rounds to pick up a shootout victory over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. Philadelphias Jakub Voracek kept the shootout going when he scored in the third round. Floridas Brandon Pirri had scored in the first. Scottie Upshall lit the lamp in regulation for the Panthers, who got 25 saves from Roberto Luongo. Voracek also scored the only goal for the Flyers, who fell to 0-5 in shootouts this season. Steve Mason stopped 31-of-32 shots. Final Score: Pittsburgh 1, Colorado 0 (OT) Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Comeau scored at 2:24 of overtime to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 1-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. DEMAR DEROZAN (Raptors): Hopefully, hes back sooner rather than later. Hell be missed by his team - obviously. Hes such a competitor. After getting hurt the other night, he kept trying to play on his injured foot. He loves the game and Im so impressed with his progress over the years. DeRozan is a mature and serious young man. There is a reason above and beyond his physical ability why hes a good player; he has worked incredibly hard on his skills, his strength and conditioning and is a student of the game. It would be nice to see him make the All Star game. In the meantime, Raptors really need to buckle down defensively and find scoring and consistency in other areas, could be a challenge.  Big one tonight here in New York City vs. the red hot Nets.                      2. SHAUN LIVINGSTON (Nets): When you watch the Raptors tonight it is always nice to see a guy who has fought back from a devastating injury to have success. When he was a young player with the Clippers, Livingston had a chance to be a special player in this league and then it all got derailed. He has made a difference with Brooklyn, being a sound defender who sets the tone for his team. In the absence of Deron Williams, his leadership was critical for Coach Jason Kidd turning this team around. Not a flashy player yet his smarts, toughness and consistency are a big part why the Nets are surging right now.                            3. SPENCER HAWES (Sixers): Hawes has really developed in the past few years into a steady Post player. His rebounding instincts are solid while his back to the basket game has improved. He is also a capable face up shooter. He passes the ball quite wwell from both the low and high post and is a good fit in a teams attack. Comprar Air Max 95 Baratas. When I saw him as a young player at the University of Washington and when he was on the Sacramento Kings, I didnt envision him to have this upside. Hes really carved out a nice niche in Philly.                             4. JAMAAL CRAWFORD (Clippers): Raptor fans got to see first-hand why Crawford is probably the best sixth-man in the NBA right now. He dropped 37 points on them, but more importantly he had an amazing 11 assists as well. What a luxury for Doc Rivers brining him off the bench. He changes the game completely when he comes in. You better check him from behind the three-point arc and his dribble moves are tantalizing. Hes bounced around a lot and Ive never understood why - hes always been a good player. Clips are lucky to have him. Hell steal a playoff game or two for them.                        5. AL JEFFERSON (Bobcats): Sure, they spent above market value to get Jefferson but in a market like Charlotte, which has had a rough go of it lately, you have to acquire talent somehow. Hes been a good player for them. 19 points per game and 10-plus rebounds per games as well, while shooting 48 % has really helped their team. Hes in terrific shape and has been quite engaged in the rebuilding process. He plays with a terrific front court partner in Josh McRoberts, who does all the little things while Jefferson racks up the points and boards. If the Bobcats add perimeter shooting, (theyre awful in those categories -bottom eight in field goal and three-point field goal percentage) it will really open things up for their team in future years. You can never have enough shot makers.  ' ' '
San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork. Fake NFL Jerseys Wholesale .com) - The San Antonio Spurs didnt need their Big Four to make easy work of the Carmelo Anthony-less New York Knicks. Marco Belinelli had 22 points off the bench as the Spurs routed the Knicks 109-95 on Wednesday night. Creighton has largely disappointed this season, as it enters this contest sporting a 9-11 overall record, which includes an 0-7 mark in Big East play. The Bluejays have lost eight straight games, with the latest being a 64-61 decision at Butler this past Wednesday. Since the end of November, the squad has won only three games while losing 10. Creighton is just 1-6 in true road games. Villanova took a 17-1 record into its recent bout with rival Georgetown, and the Wildcats couldnt overcome a slow start by them and a hot start by the Hoyas as they dropped a 78-58 decision on the road. The 78 points put up by GU marked the highest allowance by Villanova this season, and the Hoyas are only the second team to shoot at least 50 percent from the field against the Wildcats. As a result, Villanova now find itself at 4-2 in conference as the Big East race heats up. Villanova leads the all-time series with Creighton, 5-2, but both victories for the Bluejays came last season by a staggering 49 combined points. They were the only two Big East losses suffered by the Wildcats during the regular season. Rick Kreklow scored 16 points off the bench for Creighton in its recent clash with Butler, but he received little help from his teammates as the Bluejays lost yet again, albeit by just three points. James Milliken was the only other player to reach double digits for Creighton, as he tallied 10 points. Devin Brooks was credited with 10 rebounds for the Bluejays, who shot 44.9 percent from the floor, went 7-of-18 from distance, and converted 10-of-13 free throws. Unfortunately, 19 turnovers offset a stellar defensive effort that saw Butler shoot only 33.8 percent from the field, missing 16 of its 20 3-point tries along the way. Creighton lost more than the game against Butler, as guard Isaiah Zierden suffered a season-ending knee injury for the second year in a row. Kelly Oubre Jr. Suns Jersey. Zierden was netting 9.5 ppg while leading the team with 44 3-pointers, a .396 3-point shooting percentage, as well as 90 percent effort at the free-throw line. Austin Chatman is the only players averaging double figures for the Bluejays this season, but his 11 ppg doesnt exactly elicit fear in many opponents. Overall, Creighton is scoring 67.8 ppg while allowing 65.4 ppg, and the team, despite being one of the best in the country at the charity stripe (.750), is shooting just 41.7 percent from the field overall. Georgetown used a 17-0 run in the first half to put considerable distance between itself and Villanova, leading to a 20-point home win for the Hoyas. Ryan Arcidiacono nailed four 3-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points, while Josh Hart chipped in 10 points before fouling out as the only other player to reach double figures for the Wildcats, who shot just 34.1 percent from the floor while allowing their hosts to drain 51.1 percent of their total shots, including 6-of-12 out on the perimeter. The Cats suffered a 34-26 deficit on the glass, and they committed 17 turnovers which led to 24 points for the Hoyas. GU also logged favorable margins in both points in the paint (26-10) and bench points (31-15). Despite the poor showing last Monday in the nations capital, Villanova is one of the top teams in the country. It averages a solid 75.9 ppg while permitting only 61.5 ppg. The Wildcats outshoot the opposition in every area, connecting on 46.8 percent of their field goal attempts, which includes a 35.7 performance from beyond the arc, and they are also on the plus side of the ledger with regard to rebounding (+2.8) and turnover (+4.0) differential. Darrun Hilliard averages 12.8 ppg to lead a balanced attack for coach Jay Wrights club, and he is joined in double figures by three others. In addition. JayVaughn Pinkston (9.8 ppg) and Arcidiacono (9.2 ppg) are close to joining the ranks. ' ' '

Snyder most recently completed his first season as an assistant with Atlanta. He has also been an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers. He was the head coach at Missouri for seven seasons, from 1999 to 2006, leading the Tigers to four NCAA tournaments. That included an Elite Eight appearance in 2002. "He has an impressive basketball pedigree, including more than a decade of head coaching experience that positions him well to succeed in the Jazz organization," Jazz CEO Greg Miller said in a statement. "We look forward to Quins contributions both on the court and in the community." Snyder succeeds Corbin, who was not offered a new contract. Corbin went 112-146 in Salt Lake City after taking over on Feb. 10, 2011, following the resignation of Jerry Sloan, for whom he played three seasons and served as a longtime assistant. Corbin reached the pllayoffs in the strike-shortened 2011-12 season, but his team was swept by San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs. Ivan Provorov Jersey. Other candidates for the job included Clippers assistant Alvin Gentry and Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin. "The opportunity to join the Utah Jazz and to be part of such a highly respected franchise with an incredibly bright future is a great honour," Snyder said in a statement. SOUTHAMPTON, England -- Manchester United failed to qualify for next seasons Europa League after drawing with Southampton 1-1 Sunday on the final day of the Premier League. John Havlicek Jersey . The dull draw is likely to be Ryan Giggs last match in charge of United as interim coach. With Southampton guaranteed an eighth-place finish and United heading into the game with only the slightest possibility of European qualifying, this game had long lost any meaningful intrigue. The hosts dominated the opening 45 minutes and Rickie Lambert put Southampton into a deserved first-half lead. Nemanja Vidic, making his last appearance for United, could only head a long ball into the path of Steven Davis under pressure from Lambert, who was then picked out to slot home his 13th league goal of the season in the 28th. Uniteds players gathered around referee Mike Dean after the goal as Vidic had a bloody nose after the clash with Lambert in the build-up. Juan Matas free kick nine minutes after the interval was enough to earn United a point. A year after winning the title, United finished seventh, five points behind Tottenham -- and 22 behind new champion Manchester City. When United an Southampton play again next season, the chances are a number of the main protagonists will have moved on. With the managerial futures of both Giggs and Southampton counterpart Mauricio Pochettino unclear, it is likely two new coaches will be brought in -- and for Saints their main challenge will be replacing a seemingly Liverpool-bound Adam Lallana. The 26-year-old is reportedly the target of a big bid from Anfield and Lallana once again showed how he can cut it against some of the best players in the league. Giggs made seven changes from the midweek win over Hull as he recalled Vidic for his final game. But it proved to be a difficult outing for the man who will be lining up for Inter Milan next year as he and his defensive partner Rio Ferdinand, another who could well be departing Old Trafford, struggled to contain Southamptons rampant frontmen in the opening 45 minutes. Giggs reacted to a mediocre first half by replacing Shinji Kagawa with Michael Carrick and, after his side had started the second half on top, it soon drew level. Danny Welbeck was bundled to the ground by Victor Wanyama and Mata curled the resulting free kick well out of the reach of Boruc. Shaquille ONeal Jersey . DALLAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent was sentenced Friday to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation for a drunken car crash that killed his friend and teammate, Jerry Brown. Brent was convicted Wednesday of intoxication manslaughter for the December 2012 crash on a suburban Dallas highway that killed Brown, who was a passenger in Brents car. Brent could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. Brent, a Cowboys defensive tackle, and Brown, a linebacker on the practice squad, also played together at the University of Illinois and were close friends. They were headed home from a night of partying with Dallas teammates when Brent lost control of his Mercedes and crashed. Officers who arrived on scene saw Brent trying to pull Browns body from the wreckage. Blood tests pegged Brents blood alcohol content at 0.18 per cent, which is more than twice the states legal limit to drive of 0.08 per cent. Prosecutors told jurors that the burly, 320-pound lineman had as many as 17 drinks on the night of the crash. One of Brents lawyers, George Milner, argued that Brent wasnt drunk and was only "guilty of being stupid behind the wheel of a car." He contended that Brent couldnt have had nearly as much to drink as prosecutors said he had, and that the police blood tests were flawed. Brents lawyers pushed their case for probation Thursday, calling a Dallas County official who testified that the county currently has 34 intoxicatioon manslaughter cases that resulted in probation. Danny Ainge Jersey. . Kevin Brooks, one of Brents lawyers, said the one-time defensive tackle would be easy to monitor because of "who he is and who he was." Brent retired from football last year. Browns mother, Stacey Jackson, has also publicly forgiven Brent. When asked Thursday if she holds Brent responsible for her sons death, she said: "Hes still responsible, but you cant go on in life holding a grudge. We all make mistakes." Prosecutors pushed for prison time for Brent, who went to trial only weeks after another Texas intoxication manslaughter case sparked widespread public outrage. In that case, a defence expert argued that the defendant, a 17-year-old boy who caused a drunken crash that killed four people, deserved leniency because his parents coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility -- a condition the expert termed "affluenza." The teen wasnt given prison time. On Thursday, prosecutor Rebecca Dodds emphasized Brents 2009 drunken driving arrest in Illinois to press the states argument that he deserves prison time. In that case, he served 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour charge. "Probation doesnt work for Josh Brent," prosecutor Rebecca Dodds told the jury during closing statements in the punishment phase. Brent played in all 12 games for the Cowboys in 2012 before the crash. Brown made the practice squad that season. ' ' '

It feels good though.Fleury was right. He recorded back-to-back regular-season shutouts for the first time in his career.Coming off a 3-0 win over the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, Fleury posted his third shutout in four games and the 31st of his NHL career. He has stopped 98 of the last 101 shots he faced and has held opponents without a goal in 10 of his past 12 periods. You have a feeling your goaltender is in a zone, so we went back to him tonight, Penguins coach Mike Johnston said. He was good in Nashville and continued right through this week. You cant say enough about having a goaltender that will play like that.Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist and Blake Comeau also scored for Pittsburgh, and captain Sidney Crosby had three assists. Kunitz, with four goals in his last two games, has seven this season.Malkin also had two assists, extending his point streak to 10 games. Crosby has a point in 18 straight games against Buffalo, his longest active run against any team. The Penguins finished 3 for 5 on the power play. It was the fourth straight game and seventh time in 10 games that Pittsburghs power play scored multiple goals. Pittsburgh is 10 for 21 on the power play during its four-game winning streak.Weve done some good things, guys have capitalized, but you need some luck, too, Crosby said. Well try to keep riding that. Its tough to do, but hopefully well continue to carry that momentum and build confidence. The Penguins have outscored opponents 19-3 during the last four games. They defeated the Sabres for the 13th time in 17 games, earning their eighth win in the past 11 played in Pittsburgh.Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves for the Sabres, who were shut out for the fifth time in 12 games this season. Its very tough, especially today, Enroth said. I didnt play my best game and just felt that we werent really close in this one.Buffalo entered with 12 non-shootout goals in 11 games. The Sabres, who lost for the seventh time in eight games, are 2-9-1 and have the second-fewest points in the Eastern Conference. With our confidence right now, if we get down two goals, it doesnt seem like we have the will to battle back, Sabres coach Ted Nolan said. When you dont work and you dont fight and you dont compete and you dont battle, thats whats going to happen.Kunitz opened the scoring at 4:26 of the first, crashing the net to backhand a rebound from the slot past a sprawled Enroth. The Penguins controlled long stretches of the first period, owning a 12-3 shots advantage. The Sabres went more than 13 minutes without a shot.Buffalo had the better of the play through early parts of the second period as the Penguins appeared listless at times.I didnt think we carried our speed very well, Johnston said. LAS VEGAS -- Colorado had seen Arizonas defence at work before, in person and in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals. Cheap Adidas Gazelles Uk . Even knowing what was coming, the Buffaloes didnt stand much of a chance. Unable to match Arizona after a close first half, Colorado lost to the fourth-ranked Wildcats 63-43 in the Pac-12 semifinals on Friday night. "We knew they were good defensively and we knew we were going to have to make some shots to beat them. We couldnt get going," Colorado coach Tad Boyle said. "Their defence had something to do with that. Our offence had something to do with that." Arizona (30-3) crushed Utah in its tournament opener behind a record-setting defensive show. The Wildcats didnt peel open the record book against Colorado, but they sure gave the Buffaloes fits. Unlike its previous win over Colorado, Arizona started slow, allowing the Buffaloes to keep it close at halftime. Once they got rolling, Colorado had no answer for the Wildcats defensive pressure and string of highlight-reel plays that had MGM Grand Garden Arena feeling like McKale Center West. Arizona shot 60 per cent in the second half and held Colorado (23-11) to 5-of-22 shooting in the final 20 minutes to earn a spot Saturdays championship game against UCLA or Stanford. Nick Johnson scored 16 points, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 12 and eight rebounds for Arizona. T.J. McConnell facilitated the Wildcats offence and spearheaded the top of the D, finishing with 12 points, five assists and four rebounds "Our defence became great in the second half, but our offence found its flow," Arizona coach Sean Miller said. "We shared the ball. We were more ourselves. It was that combination that really broke the game open." Colorado was able to hang with Arizona behind its defence in the first half. But playing their third game in as many days took its toll on the Buffaloes in the second half and they had no pushback when the Wildcats started to race away. Askia Booker had 20 points to lead Colorado, which shot 29 per cent overall and was outrebounded 41-25. Now the Buffaloes have a two-day wait to see if the NCAA tournament selection committee deems them worthy of the bracket. "Im hoping to get in the tournament," Boyle said. "Im not going to be presumptuous and say were in, because these guys werent with us three years ago when our team didnt get in and deserved to get in. I think were in, but thats not for me to decide or anybody else in this room to decide." Arizona put on a show in its tournament opener, flexing its defensive muscles for everyone to see with an overwhelming quarterfinal victory over Utah. The Wildcats held the Utes to 13 first-half points, 39 overall, 12 field goals and 25 per cent shooting -- all tournament records. The 32-point margin also matched the largest in tournament history. Arizona pulled a similar smothering act on Colorado in the teams last meeting. After a 12-point loss in Tucson, Johnson proclaimed Arizona wasnt that good and that the Buffaloes would beat the Wildcats by 20, even with leading scorer Spencer Dinwiddie out for the season. The Wildcats turned the slight into a fury, holding Colorado without a field goal for the opening 10 minutes and shooting 84 per cent in the second half an 88-61 win -- their first in Boulder since 1973. The Buffaloes got off to a better start this time, scoring 8 1/2 minutes sooner. Colorado still had trouble with Arizonas amoebic defence, though, going 10 of 29 from the floor in the first half. But the Buffaloes had something up their sleeve: A little defence of their own. Contesting shots and digging down on the post for steals, Colorado made life much more difficult than it had back in Boulder, allowing them to stay in the game. The Buffaloes held Arizona to 11-of-29 shooting and forced eight turnovers -- five by centre Kaleb Tarczewski -- that led to 11 points. Colorado held Arizona scoreless for over 4 minutes during a 10-2 run that helped the Buffaloes trim Arizonas nine-point lead to 27-24 at halftime. "I thought we stood a lot in the first half," McConnell said. The second half looked more like the game in Boulder. Arizona picked up the defensive intensity even more and started pouring out the highlights to extend the lead. Johnson had one, flying in for a reverse alley-oop dunk and Hollis-Jefferson matched him with a tomahawk dunk over Josh Scott. Gordon provided one on the defensive end not long after that, soaring up for a clean swat on Johnsons one-handed dunk attempt that sent Arizonas fans bursting out of their seats. In just a couple of minutes, the Wildcats were up 51-32 thanks to a 13-0 run, well on their way to the Pac-12 title game. "In the second half, we were sharper," Miller said. ST. Jalen Ramsey Womens Jersey . PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild traded for goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on Tuesday in conjunction with their decision to shut down ailing veteran Niklas Backstrom. The Wild sent a fourth-round draft pick to Edmonton to complete the deal one day before the NHL trade deadline. General manager Chuck Fletcher said the team must assume that neither Backstrom nor Josh Harding will be healthy enough to mind the net again this season. Rookie Darcy Kuemper has been stellar in their absence, but with a finishing stretch of 20 games in 37 days starting Saturday, hes not enough. "We have a lot of work ahead of us to get where we want to get to, but clearly having two quality goaltenders was very important," Fletcher said. Kuemper has started 15 straight games, so Bryzgalov is more for insurance, though hes certain to have his time, too. The Wild are 14-4-2 in 2014 and in firm control of the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference playoff race. "I will do my job as best I can. Making the decisions on who is supposed to play is not my job," Bryzgalov said on a conference call. He added: "I look at this as a great opportunity for me to play, and yeah its like a new challenge." Backstrom has been bothered by injuries all season, most notably to his midsection that will probably prompt surgery, and the 36-year-old has a career-worst 3.02 goals-against average over 21 games. Fletcher told him Monday of their preference to hold him out until training camp. "His pain threshold is tremendous," Fletcher said. "Hes a competitive guy and I know hes really disappointed because the team has taken a really strong step the last couple months. Hes been through some of the lean times, and I know he wants to be a part of it but our goal for Nik is to get him healthy." Harding was superb early in the season, but the 2013 Masterton Trophy winner -- for sportsmanship, dedication and perseverance -- has not played at all in 2014 due to illness related to medication for multiple sclerosis. With not much more than a month left in the regular season and Harding not yet ready to resume skating, Fletcher said hes probably finished until the fall, too. The search for a replacement intensified in the last couple of days. Martin Brodeur and Jaroslav Halak also were potentially available via trade, but their price was far higher than what it took to nab Bryzgalov. The 33-year-old Russian has a 5-8-5 record in 20 games for the Oilers this season, with an ugly 3.01 goals-against average. Hes on an expiring contract, a requirement for the Wild. This is a rental, plain and simple. Thats largely because Kuemper has tied a Wild rookie record with 11 wins and since Jan. 7 has a 1.70 GAA with two shutouts and a .939 save percentage. "Weve always felt hed be a very good No. 1 goalie down the road, and we just didnt realize down the road would mean this January and February," Fletcher said. The pick sent to Edmonton was originally acquired last year from Buffalo in the trade that brought first-line right wing Jason Pominville to Minnesota. Bryzgalov has 38 games of playoff experience over five postseasons with Anaheim, Phoenix and Philadelphia, including three stellar starts against the Wild in the Western Conference quarterfinals in 2007. He stopped 73 of 77 shots in the first three games of that series, all Ducks victories. Bryzgalov struggled in defeat in the next game, Jean-Sebastien Giguere replaced him thereafter and the Ducks went on to win the Stanley Cup. Bryzgalovs career record is 213-157-50, including a 42-20-6 mark for the Coyotes during the 2009-10 season, his best in the NHL. He had a 2.29 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Then came his ill-fated time in Philadelphia. The Flyers signed him to a $51 million, nine-year contract in 2011 and used a salary-cap compliance buyout to release him last June, just two seasons into the megadeal. General manager Paul Holmgren said then the contract was "a costly mistake." Bryzgalov didnt sign with the Oilers until last November. After signing goalie Ben Scrivens to a two-year contract extension last week, the Oilers took their first step away from Bryzgalov. Then they acquired goalie Viktor Fasth from Anaheim on Tuesday for a fifth-round draft pick this summer and a third-round selection in 2015.Marqise Lee Jaguars Jersey . Fred Couples, captain of the U.S. side, put it all into perspective. "We know whos in charge," he said. "Jack Nicklaus." The winner of a record 18 major championships is an unofficial host for this weeks biennial match-play competition between the U.S. and an International side. On Tuesday he discussed his pride over the course he designed, Muirfield Village, becoming the first to host a Ryder Cup (1987), a Solheim Cup (1998) and a Presidents Cup (in addition to the annual Memorial Tournament). "Obviously, thats pretty special," said the 73-year-old Columbus native. "We are the only ones who can say that." Nicklaus was a four-time captain of the Presidents Cup, which has been dominated by the Americans. A similar thing was happening in the older Ryder Cup until the Europeans upset the U.S. side at ... Muirfield Village. Nicklaus, as a veteran of elite match play competitions and as an ambassador of the game, addressed the course, the art of pairing players in matches, pressure on the International team to be competitive and, of all things, attending a hockey game. -- Nicklaus said he knew he had to lengthen the 18th hole at Muirfield Village when one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, Robert Garrigus, approached him at the 2012 Memorial. "Garrigus came in here last year and he says, Jack, remember I drove it up to 76 yards from the hole last year?" Nicklaus said. "I said I remembered. He says, I drove it to 64 yards today. I wanted to wring his neck." Now the par-4 hole stretches another 45 yards to almost 500 yards. Long hitters can no longer just drive over the nine bunkers along the right side of the fairway. Instead, theyll have to deal with a black walnut tree 305 yards off the tee then hit a long, uphill approach to a hard, fast, tilted green. "You have to play a very significant shot in," he said. -- Asked how he decided pairings when he was a captain in both the Ryder and Presidents Cups, Nicklaus said he left it up to the team. "Id ask all the guys at the beginning of the week, Who would you like to play with? Or, Who wouldnt you like to play with?" he said. Then he would try to pair players with friends and not with enemies, if at all possible. At the same time, if aa player wanted to play against someone, he would try to accommodate them. Taven Bryan Jersey. "Couples asked me to give him Vijay (Singh) one match. I remember I had (Phil) Mickelson) ask for (Angel) Cabrera," Nicklaus said. At Royal Melbourne in 1998, Tiger Woods requested playing Greg Norman in singles. "So my goal was to get Norman for him," Nicklaus said. He traded picks with International captain Peter Thomson until he was able to secure Woods vs. Norman. "I walked out and got the pairings and Norman said, Why did you do that to me? And I said, Hey, youre not on my team!" Nicklaus said. "We all got a big laugh out of that." Woods had the last laugh with a 1-up victory on Sunday. -- The U.S. is 7-1-1 in the Presidents Cup and has won the last four matches easily. The Internationals could turn the tide at Muirfield Village, much like the Europeans did there in the Ryder Cup. The U.S. team includes Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jason Dufner, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley -- all major-championship winners. Woods, who has won the Memorial five times, would like nothing better than to win the Presidents Cup, which gets under way on Thursday, on Nicklaus course. "It would be fun," he said. "It would be fun to win it in front of the home fans." Captain Nick Prices International side has Angel Cabrera, Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Charl Schwarzel, Louis Ooosthuizen -- and several relatively obscure players yet to make their mark on the world stage. "The teams this year are probably skewed a little stronger toward the American side," Nicklaus said. "We hear about the American players because they are here every week. They have stepped up and done a good job. "But I think that goes in cycles. You know, four years from now, the Americans might be begging for mercy." -- Nicklaus has been chosen to drop the ceremonial first puck for the NHL opener of the Columbus Blue Jackets when they play the Calgary Flames on Friday night. "First of all, Ive never seen a puck dropped. Ive never heard the phrase until about two weeks ago," he said, laughing. "I dont know how far you drop it from. I dont know what youre supposed to hit and who youre not supposed to hurt with it. So Ill find out on Friday night. "I need to learn something; I need to broaden my horizons." ' ' '
NEW YORK -- Ryan Callahan heard the Madison Square Garden crowd roar loudly each time he scored for the New York Rangers against Colorado. Donovan Mitchell Jazz Jersey . Those cheers seemed more special this time because the captains run on Broadway could soon be over. The adoration surely sounded much nicer to Callahan than all the recent trade talk. Callahan shook that off and scored two first-period goals to lead New York to its fourth straight win, 5-1 over the Avalanche on Tuesday night. Callahan is eligible for free agency after the season, and if he doesnt reach a new contract agreement with the Rangers before two upcoming trade deadlines, he could be sent packing. "I try not to bring that business to the rink," Callahan said. "I try to concentrate on the Rangers and what were doing here. Thats my main focus. "That is where I want to be, on the ice playing for the Rangers." Callahan staked New York to a 2-0 lead with goals 3:19 apart. Defenceman Anton Stralman added his first of the season in the second period, and Derick Brassard and Brad Richards scored in the third -- with an assist from Callahan -- in the Rangers 10th win in 13 games. After Callahan was stopped with a chance at a hat trick, Brassard made it 4-1 at 1:58. Richards finished the scoring with 1:36 left. Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves for his 297th win, four shy of Mike Richters club record. The Rangers looked well rested after a three-day break and took advantage of the Avalanche, who played for the third time in four days -- including an overtime win at New Jersey on Monday. "I dont think they came out very hard," Lundqvist said. "We set the tone." Gabriel Landeskog, Lundqvists teammate with Sweden in the Olympics, scored in the second, and Russian Olympian Semyon Varlamov stopped 38 shots, but the Avalanche had a four-game winning streak snapped. The shots were 16-2 in New Yorks favour at one point, but the game was still scoreless. Callahan took care of that. "Even though we didnt score early, we came out and created chances," Lundqvist said. "When we finally got that first one, I felt like we were doing so many good things." Carl Hagelin chipped the puck away from defenceman Jan Hejda in the Rangers zone and raced up left wing. Hagelin sent a crisp pass across to Callahan, who took it at the bottom of the right circle, shifted to his backhand and scored with 5:44 left in the first. The Rangers continued their barrage before Callahan connected again. Brad Richards made a pass from the right circle into the slot to Callahan for a quick one-timer past Varlamov. Callahan raised both arms over his head and then dropped them to his waist as he let out an emphatic yell to celebrate his 11th goal with 2:25 remaining in the frame. "Ryans been playing hard since the first game," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Hes the captain of the team. He prepares real well and competes every shift. "Tonight was one of those nights where he did exactly the same thing, except he was able to finish a couple of great setups." New York ended the first period with a 20-4 edge in shots. "Those three days (off) definitely helped us," Callahan said. "We jumped out in the first and we get that momentum. We seemed to roll with it and never really gave it back." Colorado briefly cut the deficit in half when Landeskog turned a faceoff win in the Rangers end into his 17th goal. Lundqvist had kept the Avalanche at bay with a save on a hard shot by Nathan McKinnon during a power play. But following the faceoff, McKinnon sent a pass from below the goal line out front to Landeskog for the goal at 6:37. The Avalanche were down 31-11 in shots but trailed only 2-1. Just 53 seconds later, the Rangers went back in front by two. Stralman took a pass from Mats Zuccarello and wristed a shot from just inside the blue line through traffic and past Varlamov for his first goal in 60 games, dating to April 19, 2013. Colorado had a great opportunity to get back into the game late in the second when back-to-back penalties gave the Avalanche a two-man advantage for 1:50. They spent plenty of time with the puck in the Rangers end, but put very few shots on Lundqvist. When they did, he turned them aside. "At 2-1, we came right back and made it 3-1, and we killed off that full 5-on-3," Vigneault said. "Those were probably the biggest points." Colorado mustered three shots on that double penalty and 14 overall in the second period, but still faced a two-goal deficit entering the third. "Five-on-three -- you dont get many of those," Landeskog said. "We just werent good enough." NOTES: It was Callahans second two-goal game this season. In the calls, Hernandez discussed the murder of Odin Lloyd, including his "belief about his criminal liability" and the "extent of his control over persons charged as accessories," according to the request filed Thursday in Fall River Superior Court. The ex-player also talked about other matters related to his co-defendants "whereabouts and likely criminal liability," the motion says. Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty in the killing of Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston man who played semi-professional football and was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Two associates said to be with Hernandez and Lloyd on the night of the killing -- Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz -- have pleaded not guilty to charges of accessory after the fact. Defence attorneys didnt immediately respond to messages seeking comment. Inmates are notified that their calls, except those with their lawyer, are recorded and the contents are provided to law enforcement if requested, the filing says. Prosecutors are also asking a judge to order the Bristol County sheriffs office to turn over records of jailhouse visits Hernandez had, including from hiss fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, and cousin, Tanya Singleton. Robert Horry Rockets Jersey. Jenkins has pleaded not guilty to perjury in the case, and Singleton has pleaded not guilty to contempt and conspiracy charges. Singleton was released from jail this week on $15,000 bail. Prosecutors want Judge Susan Garsh to take up their request on Wednesday, Hernandezs next scheduled hearing date. Meanwhile, the defence filed a motion Friday seeking more details about the murder and weapons charges Hernandez faces. They want to know, among other things, if the prosecution alleges he was the gunman or acted as a "joint venturer." Prosecutors have said Hernandez "orchestrated" the killing but never specifically identified who pulled the trigger. Lloyds bullet-riddled body was found by a jogger on June 17 in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandezs North Attleborough home. Prosecutors say Hernandez was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people at a nightclub with whom Hernandez had problems. Documents released in Connecticut in January indicate police have been investigating Hernandezs possible role in a 2012 double murder in Boston. Police say in the records theres probable cause to believe he was driving the vehicle used in the shooting and "may have been the shooter." ---- Associated Press writer Michelle R.
