MANCHESTER, England -- England defender Luke Shaw became the worlds most expensive teenage player on Friday and Manchester Uniteds second signing in 24 hours following its worst English Premier League campaign. Sheldon Rankins Womens Jersey . The 18-year-old left back joined United from Southampton, reportedly for more than 27 million pounds ($46 million), straight after returning from his first World Cup with England. Southampton confirmed the deal made Shaw "the most expensive teenager ever," which would eclipse fees of around 26 million pounds ($44 million) that saw Wayne Rooney join Manchester United in 2004 and Marquinhos sign for Paris Saint-Germain last year. Shaw signed a four-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year if he continues to develop as one of the most exciting youngsters in football. "I want to continue to progress my career and joining United is the ideal place for me to do that," Shaw said in a statement. Louis van Gaal doesnt officially take charge at United until his World Cup campaign as Netherlands manager is over, but players are being signed ready for the Dutchmans arrival. United paid around $50 million for Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera the day before Shaws arrival. The record 20-time English champions are spending early in the summer transfer window after dithering last year in the post-Alex Ferguson era led to an alarming, and costly, slump on the pitch. David Moyes was fired just before the season ended with United going from 2013 champions to seventh-place finishers last month. Uniteds management has convinced Shaw to join them despite the lack of Champions League football next season. Having already made 67 first-team appearances at Southampton, Shaw will be hoping he isnt just the backup to 33-year-old Patrice Evra at left back. "Luke is a very talented young left back with great potential," assistant manager Ryan Giggs said. "He has developed immensely during his time at Southampton." Shaw usurped Ashley Cole as backup to Leighton Baines in the England World Cup squad, leading to the Chelsea veterans international retirement. Shaw, who made his international debut only in March, won his third cap in Tuesdays 0-0 draw with Costa Rica before Englands early exit from Brazil. Shaw is the latest departure from Southampton since the south-coast club achieved its highest-ever Premier League points tally to finish eighth in May. Manager Mauricio Pochettino left for Tottenham, striker Rickie Lambert joined Liverpool, and midfielder Adam Lallana is also set for a move to Anfield. Cameron Jordan Youth Jersey . However, the 38-year-old is in no hurry to sign with another team. "Im not in a rush. This will be my last contract, so I want to do it right," said Burris on Thursday. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Womens Jersey . "I never commented to anyone that I wanted out," he explained. "My heart is with this group and making the playoffs." Kesler added that the rumours are "completely false" that he asked to be traded - recently or ever.Subban and Price save Habs, Ovechkin’s hot, Shaw emerges from a drought, Fantasy tips and more in Scott Cullen’s Statistically Speaking. HEROES P.K. Subban – Scored the overtime winner and assisted on Montreal’s earlier goal, both on the power play, in a 2-1 win over Nashville. Subban ranks second among defencemen with six power play goals, has eight points (3 G, 5 A) in the past eight games, and is among the top possession defenceman, relative to his teammates. As Travis Yost noted, Price is the Habs’ backbone. Alex Ovechkin – Scored a pair of goals in Washington’s 5-4 shootout loss to Edmonton. Ovi has 11 goals (and four assists) in the past 11 games. He’s one goal off the league lead this season but, over the past three seasons, it’s not even close. Andrew Shaw – The Blackhawks winger scored a pair of goals on 13 shot attempts (8 SOG) with stellar possession stats (23 shot attempts for, 6 against, 79.3%) in a 6-1 win against Arizona. Shaw had one goal in his previous 22 games. ZEROES Devan Dubnyk – It was a mostly unfortunate night for the Wild goaltender, as he was pulled after allowing four goals on 10 shots against Detroit. They ended up rallying to win once Darcy Kuemper was in, but that didnt instill much confidence in the Minnesota goaltending situation. Sedins – Daniel was on for all four Lightning goals against, and Henrik for three, as both had sub-40% possession despite starting most of their shifts in the offensive zone during a 4-1 loss at Tampa Bay. Moss, McMillan, Chipchura – The Coyotes line of David Moss, Brandon McMillan and Kyle Chipchura was beat up by the Blackhawks, posting under 15% possession as a trio, despite starting half of their shifts in the offensive zone. LINEUP NEED TO KNOW Kris Letang – The Penguins’ star defenceman was knocked out of the game by a hit from behind by Flyers winger Zac Rinaldo. Rinaldo is facing league discipline, but Letang’s status remains unknown. Erik Cole – The Stars winger, who has been productive lately, scoring 10 points (6 G, 4 A) in nine games this month, left Tuesday’s loss to Boston with an upper-body injury and could miss some time as a result. Seth Jones – With Ryan Ellis out of the Nashville lineup, Jones has played more than 20 minutes in six straight games, more than 23 minutes in each of the last three. Brandon Manning – Injuries have decimated the Flyers blueline, so they called up Manning and he played 17:20 against Pittsburgh, the second-highest time-on-ice total in his 13 career NHHL games. Alvin Kamara Womens Jersey. In 36 AHL games, Manning has 25 points (6 G, 19 A) and a plus-5 rating with 86 penalty minutes. SHORT SHIFTS Canadiens LW Alex Galchenyuk had a goal and an assist against Nashville, giving him 13 points (6 G, 7 A) in the past 14 games…Capitals D John Carlson had two assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to Edmonton, and has 12 points (1 G, 11 A) in the past 15 games…Capitals D Mike Green also had a pair of assists against Edmonton, giving him 15 points (1 G, 14 A) in his past 16 games…Wild LW Zach Parise scored two goals in a 5-4 shootout win against Detroit, giving him five goals in the past four games…Red Wings RW Gustav Nyquist registered a goal and an assist at Minnesota, and has 17 points (5 G, 12 A) in the past 14 games…Red Wings C Henrik Zetterberg had three assists against the Wild, giving him eight points (4 G, 4 A) in the past three games…Flyers LW Chris VandeVelde scored a goal in the 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh and has five points (4 G, 1 A) in the past six games…Blackhawks LW Bryan Bickell put up a couple of assists in a 6-1 win against Arizona; he has 10 points (5 G, 5 A) in his past 10 games…Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane had a goal (the 200th of his career) and two assists in the win over Arizona, giving him nine points (3 G, 6 A) in the past six games…Blackhawks C Brad Richards had a pair of assists in the win, and has nine points (2 G, 7 A) in his past eight games…Blackhawks rookie C Teuvo Teravainen had a goal and an assist, his first multi-point game, against the Coyotes…Capitals LW Jason Chimera had an outstanding possession game (22 shot attempts for, 2 against, 91.7%) in the loss to Edmonton…Stars C Tyler Seguin failed to score, but registered 17 shot attempts (9 SOG) in a 3-1 loss to Boston...Lightning G Ben Bishop turned aside 27 of 28 shots in a 4-1 win against Vancouver…Bruins G Tuukka Rask had 36 saves on 37 shots in a 3-1 win at Dallas. FIRSTS Teemu Pulkkinen – In his ninth career NHL game (and sixth game this season), the Detroit winger notched his first career goal against Minnesota. The 2010 fourth-round pick was tearing up the AHL, with 39 points (20 G, 19 A) in 33 games when he got recalled. Luke Witkowski – As injuries have taken Matt Carle and Radko Gudas from the Tampa Bay lineup, Witkowski, a 2008 sixth-round pick, made his NHL debut for the Lightning against Vancouver. He held his own (62.5% of even-strength shot attempts) in 14:29 of ice time. FANTASY FOCUS There are six games on the schedule for the last night of games before the All-Star break; here are some players to consider plugging into your lineup: Clarke MacArthur – He hasn’t recorded a point in the last three games, so he’s due (facing his former team), and had seven points (4 G, 3 A) in the previous eight games. Teuvo Teravainen – The skilled Blackhawks rookie is still learning the ropes, but has a chance to produce even in a sheltered role, for Chicago. Nathan MacKinnon – It’s been a frustrating ride for the second-year Avalanche forward, but MacKinnon is generating shots (24 SOG in the past six games) and with more shots, goals will follow. Patrick Maroon – In the plum spot on left wing with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, Maroon has five points (1 G, 4 A) in the past four games. Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. swell Gourde .com) - While championship weekend caused a big shake up in the College Football Playoff rankings, it was uneventful in the Heisman race as the favorite only separated himself from the field even more. 1. Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon (last week: No. 1) -- Theres officially no more drama left in the race for the Heisman Trophy, as Mariota sewed up the award with yet another dazzling performance in the Pac-12 title game against Arizona (51-13). Mariota successfully avenged the Ducks only loss of the season to the Wildcats back in October by completing 25-of-38 passes for 313 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, while rushing for an additional three scores. After Mariotas big-game presence was questioned in recent seasons with crucial losses late in the year, the star signal caller has stepped up with one of the greatest seasons in recent memory, passing for 3,783 yards while throwing just two interceptions in 372 attempts, and rushing for 669 yards. Hes accounted for 53 total touchdowns, the most by an FBS player in a single season since 2008 (Chase Clement 57, Sam Bradford 55). Expect a near- unanimous vote in Mariotas favor on Saturday night in an exciting precursor to Oregons College Football Playoff experience. 2. Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin (last week: No. 2) -- It was an anticlimactic finish to the season for Gordon and the Badgers, who were embarrassed in the Big Ten Championship Game by Ohio State, 59-0. For the first time since Sept. 9 (a span of 10 straight games), Gordon failed to top 100 yards rushing in the blowout loss, as he turned 26 carries into only 76 yards. The stud tailback had worked his way into a neck-and-neck competition with Mariota for the award with his outstanding play of late, which was highlighted by a then- FBS single-game record 408 yards against Nebraska on Nov. 15, but he needed a much better performance against Ohio State to earn additional first-place votes. Ending the campaign on a whimper has all but locked up the award for Mariota, but Gordon and his Big Ten-record 2,336 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns is a deserving No. 2. 3. Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama (last week: No 3) -- The Crimson Tide dominated Missouri in the SEC Championship Game with a 42-13 victory, and Cooper capped the regular season with his fifth double-digit reception game of the year, as he finished with 12 catches for 83 yards. The performance left Cooper with 115 receptions on the year, which is not only tops in the nation but an SEC record, breaking Jordan Matthews (Vanderbilt) previous mark of 112 set last season. Cooper is the most dominant receiver in the country -- his 1,656 yards is also most in the FBS and his 14 touchdowns are tied for second. Alabama was heavily reliant on Cooper this season, as the teams 16 other pass-catchers combined for just 153 receptions, and its likely Bama wouldnt be the No. 1 team ready to take on Ohio State in the College Football Playoff without Cooper. 4. Trevone Boykin, QB, TCU (last week: No 4) -- The Horned Frogs have experienced several different emotions over the past week. They were riding high into their matchup with Iowa State as the No. 3 team in the College Football Playoff rankings, and took care of business with a resounding 55-3 victory over the Cyclones, only to get leapfrogged by Ohio State in the final version of the rankings to miss out on the tournament. Its certainly a frustrating time for TCU, but at least it can hang its hat on Boykin as a Heisman finalist. The signal caller saved his best performance for last, as he threw for a career-high 460 yards on 30-of-41 passing against ISU, rushing for 44 yards and even caught a 55-yard touchdown. Boykins not going to win the award, but with more than 4,400 total yards and 39 touchdowns, he deserves to be mentioned among the best of the best. 5. Cody Kessler, QB, USC (last week: No. 5) -- Last year, six players were invited to New York City as finalists, a rarity, but expect the number to go back to the traditional four this year, with Kessler falling just shy of finalist distinction. Kessler was arguably the nations best pocket passer with 3,505 yards on 70.7 percent completions, 36 touchdowns and just four interceptions, and if he decides to return for his senior season he can expect another shot at the award in 2015. 6. Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor (last week: No. 6) -- The Bears have all the same beefs as TCU, a team they defeated on their way to an 11-1 record, but ultimately the College Football Playoff committee punished the Big 12 for not having a conference championship game. Petty ended the year on a high note to give his team the best opportunity to sneak into the field. In a 38-27 victory over nationally-ranked Kansas State, Petty completed 85 percent of his passes (34-of-40) for 412 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while adding a rushing touchdown. Petty failed to make the finalist field last season with 46 touchdowns, and he fell well short of that number this time around with 31, but his accomplishments as the captain of the nations most prolific offense are still worth noting. 7. Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana (last week: No. 7) -- Gordon has cast a large shadow over the running backs this season, but Coleman quietly went about his business for a three-win Indiana team by recording a 2,000-yard season of his own (2,036 to be exact) while scoring 15 touchdowns. The tailbacks accomplishments are even greater considering he chewed up some impressive defenses like Missouri, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa in a one- dimensional offense where he was the only weapon. 8. Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State (last week: unranked) -- Its difficult to gauge which is more impressive: the Seminoles undefeated record or their uncanny ability to pull out nail-biting wins without looking very good. FSU was up to their usual shenanigans in the ACC Championship Game, as it held off Georgia Tech for a 37-35 to secure its spot in the College Football Playoff. After struggling mightily leading up to the game with 11 interceptions in the previous five contests, Winston finally looked like his old self in the victory, completing 21-of-30 passes for 309 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. But it was too little, too late for the reigning Heisman winner, who sits with 3,559 yards, 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Now well have to see if the Seminoles can continue their magic against Oregon in the playoff, and ultimately if Winston returns for his junior season to try and rebound from a disappointing individual campaign this year. 9. Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State (last week: No. 10) -- All of the momentum Prescott built up while leading his team to a 9-0 start came to a screeching halt once the Bulldogs closed out the regular season with losses in two of three games, but even with a poor finish the quarterback put together a fantastic year with 2,996 passing yards, 939 rushing yards and 38 total touchdowns. If Prescott improves as much next season as he did from his sophomore to junior years, hell be in the thick of the 2015 Heisman race as well. 10. Gerod Holliman, DB, Louisville -- Holliman finally sneaks onto the list after weeks of being relegated to honorable mention status. One of the best defensive players in the nation, Holliman was a game-changer in the secondary for the 9-3 Cardinals with an FBS-record tying 14 interceptions, including two off Winston back on Oct. 30. Holliman will have a chance to break Al Worleys 46-year-old record in the Belk Bowl against Georgia. Dropped Out: Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma; Anu Solomon, QB, Arizona. Honorable Mention: Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska; Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn; Bo Wallace, QB, Ole Miss. swell France . -- The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena to a $25 million, five-year contract Saturday. swell Bouteille Isotherme . Winning more at home probably should be on the list. The Flames look to avoid a fifth defeat in six home games by winning a sixth straight meeting with the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Dolphins announced on Tuesday that they have placed wide receiver Brandon Gibson on the season-ending injured reserve list. Gibson tore his patella tendon in Miamis 27-17 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. The injury will require surgery. This season, Gibson had 30 recepptions for 326 yards and three touchdowns. Bouteille swell La Baie. He joined the Dolphins in the off-season after spending the first four years of his career with the St. Louis Rams. The former Washington State product has played in 61 NFL games over five seasons with 204 receptions for 2,416 yards and 12 touchdowns. ' ' '
SANTA CLARA, Calif. Tyler ONeill Cardinals Jersey . -- Colin Kaepernick insists he just happened to pull on a pair of socks with dollar bill prints all over them Wednesday morning -- before he learned he had struck a new fortune with the San Francisco 49ers. "I had these on before I found out," he quipped. "Luck of the draw." In the tattooed quarterback, the Niners have their franchise man for the long haul. One of the NFLs most dynamic young playcallers, Kaepernick received a $126 million, six-year contract extension Wednesday that keeps him with the organization through the 2020 season. The deal includes $61 million in guaranteed money, a person with knowledge of the contract said, speaking on condition of anonymity because terms werent disclosed. The sides had made it a top priority to get a deal done before the start of training camp next month. "They were able to get it done six weeks earlier than what I think everyone thought," Kaepernick said. "Im very excited to have it done at this point and we dont have to worry about talks or anything like that moving forward." Kaepernick, whose quick ascent to the ranks of the NFLs elite under centre has earned him rock star status, had been due to make less than $1 million this season. Now, the 26-year-old Kaepernick instantly becomes one of the leagues richest stars. "Im always striving to be in that group. An elite group in the NFL. Not necessarily pay, but as far as a player. Whatever comes along with that comes along with it," Kaepernick said. "Im very grateful for it. ... I dont think my motivation is money-driven." Since taking over the starting job from Alex Smith two years ago, Kaepernick led the 49ers to their first Super Bowl in 18 years after the 2012 season -- losing by three points to Baltimore -- and then to the NFC championship game last season, a three-point defeat to the rival and eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Kaepernick even offered a shoutout to 2005 No. 1 overall draft pick Smith, saying, "I dont think I would be able to be at this point so quickly if he hadnt been such a great mentor to me and helped me along with things." Kaepernicks next mission: "Trying to win as many Super Bowls as I can," he said. "I think thats your goal as a player to try to win a Super Bowl every year that youre playing." A second-round draft pick out of Nevada in 2011, Kaepernick has thrived under former NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh -- and the coach has said how much he wants the mobile, strong-armed QB around for the long haul. Accomplishing an extension before the season is a big deal as the team begins its first year in $1.2 billion Levis Stadium at team headquarters. "I really expect a real breakout year for Colin. Athletically, he looks bionic," Harbaugh said during the organized team activity last week. "If you all remember The Six Million Dollar Man, thats what it looks like to me. Hes very gifted and he always has been. He has the look and feel of a guy whos really going to break out, even more so than he already has. Im really excited about everything about his game right now." Greetings and kind words came via Twitter posts from teammates. "Congrats to my boy (at)kaepernick7 on the extension! (hashtag)deserving (hashtag)hardestworkingdudeiknow," wrote fullback Bruce Miller. In a sensational playoff debut in January 2013 against Green Bay, Kap -- as they call him -- used his speedy legs to run for a quarterback playoff-record 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Then, in a season-opening win against the Packers last September, the strong-armed San Francisco QB threw for a career-best 412 yards and three scores. "Colins hard work and dedication have played an integral role in the recent success of the 49ers organization," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "His work ethic, leadership and on-field production have positively influenced our team, and we look forward to his continued growth in all areas. Our organization always looks to reward our players for their contributions and commitment to the team." Harbaugh remained optimistic of getting a new deal done, while Kaepernick said his only focus was on football and he was leaving it to his agents to do the rest. The quarterback had said he sought a "fair" deal. He is regularly the first to arrive at work each morning and the last one off the field. Kaepernick has completed 382 of 639 passes for 5,046 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also has started all six post-season games in which he has appeared, earning four wins and passing for 1,374 yards and seven touchdowns. Kaepernick said last week he hopes a Miami investigation from April that names him will soon be over. He said that matter didnt affect his thoughts about whether it would affect the extension. "That wasnt something I was worried about," Kaepernick said. "I let my agents handle all the talking." Last month, Miami Police released two calls to a 911 dispatcher saying a woman identifying herself as Jesus was lying naked in a bed and refusing to leave. The callers said the woman wanted to spend time with a third man who wasnt there. Police say the players also involved in the case are 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette. None of them has been charged with any wrongdoing. "Were just really thrilled for the Kaepernick family. Theyre amazing people," agent Scott Smith said after Kaepernicks news conference. "Were just so happy for them. Were really grateful of all the hard work the 49ers put into it." So, about his timely sock selection? "To be honest, one of my friends gave them to me, gave me a box of socks," he said. "No idea what brand or what company, but they were in my drawer." Mike Shannon Jersey . Others describe it as taking the parrot for a walk. Paul DeJong Jersey . -- The Minnesota Vikings have signed Jerome Simpson, the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver recently convicted on a felony drug charge. The Vancouver Canucks have had quite a ride with goaltending in recent years and attempted to solve the problem by signing the number one free agent puck-stopper. Numbers Game looks into the Canucks signing Ryan Miller. The Canucks Get: G Ryan Miller. Miller, 33, was having a terrific season in Buffalo, posting a .923 save percentage in 40 games before he was traded to St. Louis. From there, Miller struggled down the stretch, with aa .903 save percentage in 19 regular season games before an .897 save percentage in the first-round playoff loss to Chicago. That finish might have dimmed his star somewhat, but Miller has a repuation earned with a save percentage of .919 over the past five seasons, during which no one has registered more saves than Millers 8278. That rep isnt everything, though. Miller is a 33-year-old who last made it out of the first round of the playoffs in 2007 and his .925 even-strength save percentage over the past four seasons ranks 22nd out of 43 goaltenders to play at least 4000 5-on-5 minutes. Following their abrupt playoff departure, the Blues changed their goaltending approach, retaining Brian Elliottt with the expectation that they would add prospect Jake Allen to the tandem for next season. Ozzie Smith Jersey. Whether Miller is at the peak of his game isnt necessarily the point though, because hes an upgrade in net for Vancouver; more proven than Eddie Lack or Jacob Markstrom, and thats what matters for the Canucks over the next three seasons. If they are going to remain competitive for at least a few more seasons, then the Canucs cant be stumbling around with question marks in goal, hoping that it will work out. New Canucks GM Jim Benning was instrumental to the Buffalo Sabres decision to draft Miller in 1999, so its not altogether surprising that Benning would turn to Miller to help the Canucks now. Miller doesnt guarantee success for the Canucks, but if he can provide at least average, or ideally above-average, goaltending, then the Canucks have had good enough possession numbers to compete for a playoff spot if they get decent goaltending. PARIS -- France has made seven changes to its team ahead of Saturdays trip to Scotland in the Six Nations after an embarrassing loss to Wales. Hydro Flask Coffee . Perpignan lock Sebastien Vahaamahina comes in for the injured Yannick Nyanga, with Clermont flanker Alexandre Lapandry and No. 8 Damien Chouly replacing Wenceslas Lauret and Louis Picamoles in an all-new back row. Picamoles has been dropped after sarcastically applauding referee Alain Rolland following his sin-binning against Wales. Wesley Fofana is out for the rest of the tournament and will be replaced by Toulon centre Maxime Mermoz. Toulouse wing Maxime Medard and Racing Metro scrum-half Maxime Machenaud have been selected instead of Hugo Bonneval and Jean-Marc Doussain. Castres hooker Brice Mach replaces the injured Dimitri Szarzewski. Rabah Slimani returns from a two-week ban for headbutting Michele Rizzo in Frances game against Italy to take a place on the bench. France won its opening two matches in the Six Nations but lost 27-6 at Millenium Stadium last time. However, it is one of four teams level on points and beating Scotland would set up a final showdown with Ireland at Stade de France. Hydro Flask 40 OZ . The Calgary Stampeders announced both moves on Wednesday. Parker played 17 regular season games with the Stampeders in 2013, setting career-highs in catches (21) and yards (217). Hydro Flask Waterfles .com) - Blake Griffin led five Clippers in double figures with 24 points and the LA Clippers got back on track with a 101-97 win over the Utah Jazz.At a press scrum last Thursday, the day before the Redblacks were to play their season home opener and officially open the new TD Place Stadium, one of the owners, Roger Greenburg, was asked why he decided to become the co-owner of a football team. His answer just may be the best example of why football will work this time, when it didnt on two previous occasions in Ottawa. Im paraphrasing, but the chairman/CEO of Minto Developments said that he believes there are four pillars that make up a strong community. The first is the medical system. Second, is the education system. The third is the arts and the final one is the sports culture. He went on to say that the Senators have contributed to the sports culture, but it was time to add to that with the return of professional football to the city and the addition of professional soccer. Greenburg and his partners John Ruddy, William Shenkman and Jeff Hunt wanted to be part of building and strengthening one of the pillars of a strong community. In other words, this ownership group has done all of this for the right reason - to strengthen the community that they live in and they were rewarded on Friday night for all their hard work and perseverance. Fridays home opener was an unforgettable experience and, hopefully, showed one of our other major cities in the country, that happens to be only about four hours away, just what is possible. The Redblacks didnt score a touchdown on the field, but they did in the stands and that is what mattered most. Jeff Hunt said the team could have sold another 15,000 tickets to the game and that will translate into demand. Based on the in-game experience on Friday night, nobody should be surprised to hear that the next home game will be sold out soon. The atmosphere was electric. It was a young energetic crowd, who partied like they were attending a rock concert. In fact, in what was an ingenious move, there was also a rock concert going on before the game to get people pumped up for kick-off at what was a Canadian-style tailgate party. TD Place Stadium is fantastic with great sightlines and a design that not only looks outstanding, but is designed to enhance the fan experience for soccer and football, specifically. It doesnt feel like an all-purpose facility that accommodates many, but pleases none. The game itself was not a masterpiece, but it had an exciting finish when, down by two, Redblacks QB Henry Burris hit Kerrie Johnson on a deep ball to set up the game winning field goal. It wasnt a walk-off winner by Brett Maher, but when Ricky Ray was intercepted in the dying seconds, it was game over and the crowd erupted. The games MVP was the crowd, that included Prime Minister Steven Harper, who sat beside CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon and Rough Rider great, Russ Jackson. In fact, one of the highlights of the night was when our TSN cameraa caught a fan walking by the PM and the commish to shake hands with Jackson. It was not a slight to our country leader or the leagues top man, but a show of respect for history of football in Ottawa. And speaking of the telecast, I owe the football fans in Ottawa an apology for mistakenly saying that the five Grey Cup teams in the 60s and 70s were alll coached by Frank Clair. Hydro Flask 32 OZ. My intention was to say that all the Cup teams in the 60s were coached by Clair. Jack Gotta was the coach from 1970-1973 and George Brancato was the coach when the Rough Riders beat Saskatchewan to win in 1976. The telecast wasnt perfect and neither was the night - apparently, some of the concessions ran out of beer and the traffic was a bit tricky, which, of course, was pointed out by some sportswriters...I swear some people would complain that their ice cream is too cold. I recently went to a George Strait concert in Dallas at AT&T Field, one of the most elaborate and state-of-the-art stadiums in the world and it had traffic issues, as well. In fact, it was so jammed up, I ended up tailgating in the parking lot for almost two hours after the event waiting for it to clear. On Friday night, the small issue were just that - small - and didnt, in any way, take away from the success of the event. It was a look at what is possible, even in Ontario ,when it comes to CFL football. The capacity of TD Place Stadium is 24,000, which just may be the perfect number and a blueprint for a possible stadium in Toronto. Our country has great football fans, but just not the volume to consistently fill a 40-to-50,000-seat stadium and at 24,000 in the stands, owners are making money. For those who would say that, if the NFL were in Toronto, they would sell out the old SkyDome, I would remind those people that the NFL regular season games played in Toronto were not sell-outs and not even close. In fact, sources have said that upwards of 20,000 tickets to the games in the Buffalo Bills series were freebies, handed to people on the street. No, 25-30,000-seat stadiums are the perfect size for CFL football, professional soccer and summer concerts and, for proof of that, look no further than Friday night in Ottawa. It can work in Toronto, as well, with a stadium at a realistic capacity and one built for football and soccer, specifically. It worked in Montreal, it is working in a big way in Winnipeg and, after Game One in Ottawa, it looks like it will be a huge hit there, as well. The answer may be BMO Field, which seems to still be part of the plan for the Argos. On our TSN set in Ottawa, Commissioner Mark Cohon had this to say when asked what it would take to replicate the Ottawa plan in Toronto: "The answer is a smaller stadium like BMO," said Cohon. "We know that they have a four-year deal left with Rogers Centre. Were talking to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, were talking to the city of Toronto and were working to see if we can move [the Argos] into BMO Field and replicate what we have [in Ottawa.]"  The blueprint for the correct business model has now been created and now all that is needed in Toronto is for David Braley, or whomever buys the Argos, to start building the fourth pillar in that community. Congratulations again to the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group and, on behalf of the football fans in our country, thank you. At the end of the night in Ottawa, the scoreboard read Redblacks 18 - Argonauts 17, but the true winners were the fans and the community in our nations capital. ' ' '
In his job running the NHLs department of player safety, Brendan Shanahan often had to make quick decisions. Matt Miazga USA Jersey . He would hold a hearing, make a ruling and shoot a video explaining a suspension all sometimes in a matter of hours. Tasked in his new role as Toronto Maple Leafs president with fixing what ails a team that lost 12 of its final 14 games to miss the playoffs, Shanahan feels plenty of internal pressure to make some changes. But he knows it wont be an easy or fast process. "Im realistic that you cant do everything overnight, that there are 29 other teams that are trying to accomplish the same goal and also covet good players," Shanahan said in a phone interview Wednesday. "No ones going to lay down for us because were the Toronto Maple Leafs and give us their assets." Shanahan, who took his time before deciding along with general manager Dave Nonis to extend coach Randy Carlyle for two more seasons and fire assistants Scott Gordon, Greg Cronin and Dave Farrish, seems willing to take a patient approach in remaking the roster to suit his style. One month into this new challenge, the 45-year-old insisted its too early to even know how much change the Leafs need. "You want to be ready to come out of the gates, we all know how important each game is, but I would say with most teams the team that starts a season isnt necessarily the same team that ends a season," Shanahan said. "For me, timing is less an issue as is the quality of the decisions. I dont feel and Im not getting any pressure from anyone in the organization saying this team has to look like this by this date." There may not be a firm deadline for major or minor changes to player personnel, but there are certainly mile-markers along the way. Sometime in the near future the Leafs must replace the three fired assistant coaches, which will happen with input from Shanahan, Nonis and Carlyle. Then the draft and free agency provide the first real chances to reshape the team. Shanahan will lean on the scouting staff as far as the drafting goes, but he wont shy away from sharing his opinion. When it comes to making trades and signing free agents, hell begin the true process of moulding the Leafs in his image. Given the talk about culture change and a lack of an identity from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment president Tim Leiweke on the day Shanahan was introduced and reports that captain Dion Phaneuf, defenceman Jake Gardiner and centre Nazem Kadri are the subject of trade talks, some significant moves should probably be expected. Nonis is fond of saying even as he signs players to long-term deals that none of them include full no-trade clauses. Shanahan believes that gives the Leafs roster flexibility to make changes. "I would agree with Daves assessment," he said. "Absolutely." Shanahan wasnt showing his hand on how quickly he might want to make moves, cautioning that he doesnt have a one-size-fits-all theory on how to conduct business. "Im confident in my ability to make informed decisions when I think theyre right not on any timetable," he said. "Basically we could be making decisions that would appear that were being hasty, but if the right decision is there and its there right now, well make it. And if I feel that the strong decision and the strong move is to sit back and wait, then Ill do that as well." In the short-term, theres keen interest in what Shanahan does with a team that made the playoffs in the lockout-shortened 2013 season and fell short in 2013-14 following a memorable collapse. But beyond hinting that in-season changes could also be coming, he intends to look elsewhere in the organization for big-picture alterations. "I know that whats probably most interesting to fans and to people around the league are coaching decisions and player-personnel decisions," Shanahan said. "But also I think its equally as important to devote time to your player-development staff, your scouting staff -- just the entire guts and foundation of what makes a strong organization." Jorge Villafana USA Jersey . A broadcast source said the deal is for five years. The agreement calls for a minimum of 17 regular-season games as well as the East and West Division finals being broadcast annually on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNEWS. Chris Pontius USA Jersey . While a deal hasnt been reached yet between the NHL, the union and the International Ice Hockey Federation, to send the leagues players to Sochi, a long meeting Monday pushed the sides much closer to an agreement. "Things are moving along," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. Bettman, union leader Donald Fehr and IIHF President Rene Fasel met for more than five hours Monday at league headquarters to work on a deal that would allow NHL players to compete at the 2014 games in Russia. This would be the fifth Olympics for the NHL. Not everything has been agreed to and the various sides need to meet internally to sign off on any pact. Still, Bettman called Mondays session a "constructive meeting," adding there are still "some Is to dot and Ts to cross." "I think its fair to say that were not quite ready to announce its done," Bettman said. Fasel headed to the airport following the meeting and planned to get together with various international groups beginning on Tuesday. Fehr will brief the players during multiday union executive board meetings next week. "We had a very constructive meeting," Fasel said. "I am very happy and pleased. I have to go back also to my federation and to other national federations, especially back to the IOC, to make a report. I am confident that we will have a solution at the end." When pressed for a timeline to get a deal done, Bettman responded with an emphatic, "Soon. Very soon." "Were on a compact schhedule," Bettman added. Bobby Wood Jersey. "Everybody is working very hard and we seem to be pulling the oars in the same direction." The biggest challenge the NHL faces every time the Olympics come is the need to stop the hockey season for several weeks in order for its players to go. That is even more of a factor this time because the Olympics are taking place one year after a lengthy lockout wiped out nearly half of the hockey regular season. While the Olympic exposure is good for the NHL, breaking up another season in February is hardly ideal. Bettman declined to get into specifics of what still needs to be worked out. But it was certainly a positive to see all three men standing side by side outside the NHL offices -- a far cry from last year during the lockout when Bettman and Fehr were on opposite sides and held separate news conferences on the street. Fehr agreed with Bettman this time that only smaller details have to be ironed out before a final deal can be reached. "From my end, while weve made a lot of progress on a lot of issues, there are a few I dots and T crosses to do yet," Fehr said. "We have to turn it into final written documents, and I do have to go back to my executive board. Things are moving along." Fasel, from Switzerland, joked that an agreement could already have been in place if the talks werent held in English. "There are still some language problems to understand. Its not so easy for me," he said. "I would prefer to speak French with my two colleagues. It would be much easier to negotiate with them." ' ' '
The Copa America Centenario is heading north. George Hill Bucks Jersey . CONMEBOL and CONCACAF have scheduled a press conference for Thursday in Miami where it is expected that both federations will confirm that the 2016 edition of the Copa America will be held in the United States and CONCACAF will be represented. Along with the 10 South American members of CONMEBOL, the US and Mexican national teams and four other CONCACAF squads, are expected to participate in a 16-team tournament. The 2016 edition of the tournament is its centenary. The first edition, in 1916, was held in Uruguay. Uruguay are the current holders of the title, having defeated Paraguay in 2011. BALTIMORE -- Manny Machado will have to wait at least another day before making his season debut with the Baltimore Orioles. Machado joined his teammates and was poised to be activated from the 15-day disabled list before rain postponed Tuesday nights game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The game has been rescheduled for Thursday night, previously a day off for both teams. Machado hasnt played for Baltimore since undergoing left knee surgery last October. The 2013 All-Star third baseman wont formally come off the DL until the next day the Orioles are to play a game, manager Buck Showalter said. Rain is in the forecast Wednesday, too. Machado is ready to play, rain or shine. "Im here to play baseball," he said, "If it is snow, if it is rain, if it is whatever." After a rehabilitation assignment that consisted of playing three games for Class A Frederick, Machado was convinced hes ready to compete again at the major league level. "The last couple days definitely helped," he said. "I felt ready a couple days ago. ... It was just a matter of getting the repetitions. I feel good. Thats the main thing. I feel great. My body feels good, everything feels good. Im jusst excited to be up here. D. J. Wilson Bucks Jersey. " The 21-year-old Machado hit .283 with 14 homers, 71 RBIs and 51 doubles last year, his first full season in the majors. He will fill the roster spot vacated by slugger Chris Davis, who went on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left oblique. Machado will also provide stability defensively next to fellow Gold Glove winner J.J. Hardy. "We played 156, 157 games together on the left side of the infield last year, so its going to be nice to be looking over to my right and being pretty familiar with each other," Hardy said. "Were all happy to a have him back." Machado insists theres no play defensively that he would be reluctant to make. "Im ready to play baseball. Im going to go out there and make whatever play comes my way," he said. "I made a couple of nice plays in the lower levels, and I feel good defensively. I feel great (there). Im not concerned about anything. Im a baseball player, and Ive been doing this my whole life. Im just going to go out there, and whatever comes my way, just go out there and do it and play some baseball and have some fun at the same while Im doing it." ' ' '
The NHL Play of the Year Showdown resumes today with soft hands, a dipsy doodle and a trick shot. Daryl Johnston Cowboys Jersey . Todays semifinal match-up features St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie taking on Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Tatar and Thomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks. Oshie - as he proved at the Sochi Olympics this year - is comfortable going it alone. After a fake slapper from Alex Steen backs the Tampa Bay Lightning off, Oshie grabs the puck and starts making headway towards the net. Oshie then splits Victor Hedman and Teddy Purcell before avoiding a spinning stick-check from Martin St. Louis. Losing his feet, Oshie finishes it with a backhand shovel that beats big Ben Bishop. Tatar eliminates his defenders by running them clean into one another. Streaking over the blue line, Tatar feels a pair of Dallas defenders closing in on him. As Brenden Dillon moves in for the big hit, Tatar hesitates and the Stars d-man catches teammate Cameron Gaunce square on, sending both players flying. Tatar resumes his drive and finishes with a nifty backhand shovel that goes off Kari Lehtonen and in. Hertl – in just his third career game – had a historic night, scoring four goals at just 19 years old. The fourth goal, however, was something to behold. Streaking in from the left boards, Hertl barrels in on Martin Biron looking to cap an already impressive night. He pulls Biron to his right, bringing the puck back through his legs. Reaching between with his stick, he gets under the shot for a wrister that goes top left corner. The young Czechs effort produces a goal brimming with confidence beyond his teenage years. Tom Brady had something to say about that this week. Bradys 367 yards and three touchdowns, the last a go-ahead 23-yard strike to Brandon LaFell with 5;13 remaining, rallied the New England Patriots to a 35-31 AFC Divisional Playoff victory over Harbaughs Ravens at Gillette Stadium. The fourth postseason meeting between the teams in six years was another classic, with the Patriots twice battling back from 14 points down -- including a 28-14 deficit midway through the third quarter -- and not taking their first lead until Bradys final TD delivery of the day. New England also overcome a career postseason-best four touchdown throws from Flacco, though his second interception of the game virtually ended Baltimores own comeback hopes with 1:39 left to play. Hats off to our team. They worked hard this week, said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. It certainly wasnt our best game -- well need to play a lot better next week, whoever we play -- but its good to win. The top-seeded Patriots advanced to their fourth straight AFC Championship Game, where theyll await the winner of Sundays Indianapolis-Denver clash. Bradys yardage total and 33 completions in 50 attempts each shattered his own franchise records for a playoff game, while the three-time Super Bowl champs connection with LaFell gave him 46 career postseason touchdown passes to break the leagues all-time record held by Bradys boyhood idol, Joe Montana. He also ran for a touchdown. Hes a pretty good quarterback, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said of Brady. He sat in there and made the plays they needed him to make. Rob Gronkowski caught one of Bradys touchdown throws in a 7-reception, 108- yard effort. Danny Amendola finished with a pair of touchdown grabs for New England, including a 51-yard catch from wide receiver Julian Edelman on a trick play in the third quarter. Flacco, aiming to extend his own NFL record with an eighth career playoff win on the road, ended with 292 yards on a 28-of-45 completion rate. Justin Forsett had a touchdown catch while running for 129 yards on 24 carries for Baltimore, which owns two of the three victories by visiting teams against New England in the Brady/Belichick era and very nearly pulled off a third. The Ravens owned a 31-28 lead following Justin Tuckers 25-yard field goal with 10:17 remaining, before Brady sent New England ahead with a terrific performance on the ensuing drive. He completed 8-of-9 attempts while marching the Patriots 74 yards in 10 plays, with Amendola coming up with a key 6-yard catch on 3rd-and-6 to move the chains at the Baltimore 38. Three snaps later, Brady launched a perfect downfield throw that LaFell cradled down the left sideline for the go-ahead -- and record-setting -- score. Flaccos 17-yard hookup with Owen Daniels on 4th-and-3 had the Ravens in New England territory at the two-minute warning, but he overthrew Torrey Smith on a deep route and New Englands Duron Harmon picked off the pass in the end zone to just about seal the outcome. The Ravens did get back the ball near midfield with four seconds left. However, Flaccos Hail Mary heave into the end zone was knocked away as time expired. Youve got to give credit to (New England), said Flacco. They dont panic, they just play the game and keep at it. They got themselves back in the game, we pulled away, (then) they were in striking distance and they made the play. Flaccos fourth touchdown toss of the afternoon, a 16-yarder to Forsett, staked Baltimore to a 28-14 advantage early in the third quarter. The battle- tested Pats were undaunted, however, as Brady engineered touchdowns on the next two possesssions. Darren Woodson Youth Jersey. . After 9-play, 80-yard sequence in which Brady threw on every down resulted in Gronkowskis 5-yard touchdown catch, New England wasted little time striking again after its defense induced a three-and-out. Brady initially looked downfield before tossing the ball behind the line of scrimmage to Edelman, who hit an uncovered Amendola in stride to draw the Patriots even with 4:20 to go in the third quarter. Weve had it in for 10 weeks, and the coaches finally got to call it, Edelman said of the play. I had to loosen up the arm a little bit. A sack of Flacco and fumble recovery by Jamie Collins deep in the Ravens own end on the following series was negated by a defensive holding call on Darrelle Revis, and Baltimore capitalized on the penalty. The Ravens moved into scoring range behind several strong runs from Forsett, though they ended up settling for Tuckers field goal when Daniels couldnt come down with Flaccos third-down pass in the end zone. Flacco was right on the mark during Baltimores first two drives of the game, both of which resulted in touchdowns to stake the Ravens to a 14-0 lead. He went 4-for-4 for 69 yards on the opening series as Baltimore reached the end zone in just five plays, the last a 19-yard catch by Kamar Aiken on a well-executed play fake by Flacco that began the scoring just 2:42 in. Flacco hit on 5-of-6 throws to complement a pair of long runs from Forsett on the Ravens next possession, which ended when Steve Smith beat Revis to make a juggling 9-yard touchdown catch on 3rd-and-7. Two big plays from Gronkowski, a 16-yard reception on 3rd-and-8 and a 46-yard connection with Brady, helped New England close the gap on the following drive. Brady cut the lead to 14-7 by scrambling into the end zone from four yards out on a 3rd-and-goal play in the final minute of the first quarter. The Patriots converted two more third downs on Brady completions, one a 23- yard strike to Gronkowski, on a game-tying 10-play trek late in the second quarter. Amendola capped it by shaking free of a tackle on a short catch and diving across the goal line for a 15-yard touchdown 3:37 before halftime. Bradys lone critical mistake of the day came on New Englands next offensive set, as he failed to recognize Daryl Smith in underneath coverage and the veteran linebacker intercepted the intended pass for Gronkowski at the Ravens 43. After a 20-yard pass interference penalty on Revis put the Ravens deep into New England territory, Daniels came down with Flaccos pinpoint back-shoulder throw into a tight window for an 11-yard touchdown that sent Baltimore into the half up 21-14. A gutsy 4th-and-6 call on its initial series of the second half enabled Baltimore to extend the lead, as Torrey Smith hauled in Flaccos deep pass while being mugged by Brandon Browner at the Patriots 1-yard line. Though the wideouts taunting penalty pushed the ball back 15 yards, Flacco found a wide- open Forsett in the flat on the ensuing snap to restore the 14-point differential. Game Notes The win was the 20th for Belichick in the postseason, tying him with Dallas Cowboys legend Tom Landry for the most by a head coach in league history ... In addition to breaking Montanas mark, Brady became the NFLs all-time leader in postseason passing yards with 6,791 ... Brady posted his seventh career 300-yard passing game in the playoffs, second only to Peyton Manning in NFL history ... Flacco had gone 188 straight pass attempts without an interception before being picked by Devin McCourty in the third quarter ... Edelman had eight catches for 74 yards, with Amendola totaling 81 yards on five receptions ... Patriots rookie center Bryan Stork did not return after injuring his right knee. ' ' '

The Flyers scored once on the power play and again with the extra attacker with 65 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.(SportsNetwork.com) - No one likes Thursday night games, at least according to the Texans Arian Foster. Thursday Night Football is pretty annoying for players, Houstons star running back claimed. I dont know one player that likes it. I really dont know a fan that likes it, either. I think its just the leagues way to try to generate more revenue. Fosters not wrong. The Thursday night games are most definitely a money grab by a league which already has plenty of ducats stashed away, and the players certainly dont like the short week of preparation leading up to the contest. Meanwhile, the Nielsen ratings say the fans watch but they do so with a critics eye, mindful of the fact that the weekly game seems to spawn a lack of competition in a parity-driven league. So far, we are 5-for-5 with blowouts in Thursday night affairs in 2014 with an average score of 41-12. The advantage has skewed heavily toward the home team with the New York Giants being the lone visitor to solve the short-week dilemma in Week 4 against Washington. The fact that Big Blue was able to make the quick trek down the I-95 corridor to the Beltway probably played into its success, however. Perhaps Fosters more legitimate and stinging criticism pointed directly toward player safety and the apparent hypocrisy of staging one game just four days after another. (The NFL) emphasize(s) concussions when they start getting hit with lawsuits and then they care about the player safety but Thursday Night Football is putting every player on the football field in danger, Foster said. Nobody is ready to play physically after a Sunday game but you have to go out there and do it. There is one team, though, who has figured out how to do it better than most and might even like Thursday Night Football, at least a little bit -- the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have excelled historically on short weeks, winning nine straight games on Thursday as they get ready to make the 1,015-mile trip to South Texas in Week 6. Normally the fact that its the Colts who will be uprooting and making the sojourn down to Space City should have the Texans pretty excited to welcome Houston-area native Andrew Luck back to the city for what will be an early- season bragging rights matchup between the two top clubs in the AFC South. The defending division champion Colts, who have rebounded from a slow 0-2 start with three consecutive wins, including last weekends 20-13 triumph over Baltimore, have been the exception to the Thursday night rules, however. Luck and the Colts will come in hot after getting fat over the past three weeks thanks to a fortuitous turn in their schedule with two lightly-regarded opponents -- Jacksonville and Tennessee -- followed by a home game against Baltimore. You can only play who is put in front of you and Indianapolis has handled its business, outscoring those three opponents by a combined 105-47 margin or by an average of 35-16. The Colts defense, which allowed 409.5 yards per game in the first two games of the season, has settled down and surrendered only 297.3 per game since. The Robert Mathis-less unit mustered just one sack and one turnover in the first two and then generated 11 sacks and nine takeaways during its three-game run with outside linebacker and Mathis caddie Bjoern Werner registering a career- high two sacks last weekend. The good thing about the Colts is that were very familiar with them, Texans tackle Duane Brown said. Of course you have a different game plan than weve had in years past, but as far as the personnel and things like that we kind of know what to expect. What to expect, of course, starts with the real strength of the Colts and that lies in their QB, Luck, who pilots an offense that is second overall in the NFL with 439.6 yards per game and tops in passing offense (321.8 YPG). Luck himself leads the NFL with 1,617 passing yards and 14 touchdowns but the free thrower is also tops in interceptions with six. The impressive Houston defense, which leads the NFL with 12 takeaways, counters with All-World defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who has two sacks, three bat downs, an interception return for a TD, and an NFL- high 16 QB hits through five outings. Safeties Kendrick Lewis and D.J. Swearinger both have three forced fumbles, tied for the most in the NFL, and inside linebacker Brian Cushing leads an ornery unit coming off a tough overtime loss in Dallas with 45 tackles. No loss feels good, but, like I said, we have a quick turnaround, Texans coach Bill OBrien said. Weve got to get better, and weve got to get better fast because we havent played a division game yet and we have a very big division game coming up on Thursday night in front of our home fans. Home fans or not, whats past is prologue, meaning the Colts are usually the better prepared team on a short week and there is little reason to expect that will change this time around. Indianapolis is 11-1-1 overall on Thursday and has never lost on NFL Networks Thursday Night Football, posting a 7-0 record dating back to 2007 with six of those seven wins coming away from Indianapolis. You realize once the game starts, its football, said Luck. Theres no use complaining or whining about anything. Its what you do. WEEK 6 (All Times Eastern) Indianapolis (3-2) (-3) at Houston (3-2), Thursday, 8:30 p.m. - See above. Colts 24, Texans 17 New England (3-2) (-3) at Buffalo (3-2), Sunday, 1 p.m. - First place in the AFC East will be on the line in Western New York as the Bills will try to solve Tom Brady and build on Kyle Ortons debut with the team, a 30-of-43 performance with 308 yards and one TD at Detroit last weekend. Terry Pegula might own the Bills on paper now but Brady is their real master, having compiled a 22-2 career record against Buffalo. Brady passed for 292 yards and two TDs in an impressive win over Cincinnati in Week 5, becoming just the sixth QB in NFL history with 50,000 career passing yards (50,232). Patriots 17, Bills 16 Carolina (3-2) at Cincinnati (3-1) (-7), Sunday, 1 p.m. - The Bengals are coming off a disappointing loss at New England and have won 11 consecutive regular-season home games, making this a daunting spot for Carolina. Bengals QB Andy Dalton has thrown for 2,563 yards and 22 TDs with a passer rating of 97. Pink Hydro Flask 40 Oz. 7 over that 11-0 stretch. Panthers signal caller Cam Newton has won five of his past eight games against AFC foes and is the only NFL player with 50-plus passing TDs (69) and 20-or-more on the ground (28) since entering the league in 2011. Bengals 31, Panthers 23 Pittsburgh (3-2) at Cleveland (2-2) (-2), Sunday, 1 p.m. - Its time to exorcise some demons in Cleveland. The Steelers Ben Roethlisberger is 18-1 all-time as a starter versus the Browns, the best record of any NFL QB against one team since the 1970 merger. Cleveland, meanwhile, is fresh off the largest road comeback in NFL history against Tennessee last weekend and the underrated Brian Hoyer is now 5-2 in seven starts with the Browns. Steelers 21, Browns 20 Green Bay (3-2) (-3 1/2) at Miami (2-2), Sunday, 1 p.m. - Its easy to relax when your QB has thrown for seven TDs with no interceptions and a 147.0 passer rating in his last two games and thats exactly what the games best signal caller, Aaron Rodgers, has given Green Bay. The Dolphins had extra time to try to solve A-Rod after beating lowly Oakland in London during Week 4. Packers 28, Dolphins 23 Detroit (3-2) (-2) at Minnesota (2-3), Sunday, 1 p.m. - The Vikings figure to be far more competitive now that Christian Ponder will be back on the bench and rookie Teddy Bridgewater will return from a sprained ankle. Bridgewater passed for 317 yards and had a rushing TD in his career NFL start against Atlanta back in Week 4. The Lions have the NFLs top-ranked defense but are dealing with ankle injuries to both Calvin Johnson, who has 19 receptions for 315 yards (157.5 per game) and three TDs in his past two trips to Minnesota, and Reggie Bush. Vikings 23, Lions 20 Denver (3-1) (-8) at New York Jets (1-4), Sunday, 1 p.m. - The reeling Jets have a tall task this week in trying to stop Peyton Manning, who passed for a career-high 479 yards and four TDs in a win over Arizona in Week 5 as he joined Brett Favre (508) as only players with 500-or-more career TD passes (503). Manning also matched Dan Marino for the most 400-yard passing games in NFL history with 13. The embattled Geno Smith is scheduled to start ahead of Michael Vick for New York again but expect coach Rex Ryan to have a quick hook if things go south quickly. Broncos 34, Jets 13 Baltimore (3-2) (-3) at Tampa Bay (1-4), Sunday, 1 p.m. - The Bucs are expected to stick with Mike Glennon at quarterback and the second-year player has won all three of his starts against AFC foes to date. Pressing Glennon will be Ravens pass rusher Elvis Dumervil, who has 3 1/2 sacks in his past four games against NFC competition. Ravens 17, Buccaneers 16 Jacksonville (0-5) at Tennessee (1-4) (no line), Sunday, 1 p.m. - The oft- injured Jake Locker is dealing with a thumb problem and his status for Sunday is yet to be determined. With Locker on the sidelines, the Titans blew a 25- point lead against Cleveland in Week 5, the worst implosion by a home team in NFL lore. The Jags remain a work in progress as they continue to build around rookie Blake Bortles, who completed 29-of-37 passes for 254 yards in his first NFL road start at San Diego a few weeks ago. Titans 24, Jaguars 17 San Diego (4-1) (-7) at Oakland (0-4) , Sunday, 4:05 p.m. - Tony Sparano takes over in Oakland after an 0-4 start got Dennis Allen canned. Sparano, the ex- head coach in Miami, is facing a juggernaut here as the Chargers Philip Rivers leads the NFL in passing with a 116.3 rating and the San Diego defense is tops in the conference, allowing just 290.8 yards per game. Chargers 33, Raiders 14 Washington (1-4) at Arizona (3-1) (-8), Sunday, 4:25 p.m. - The Cardinals, who have won six of their past seven home games, are hoping to get QB Carson Palmer, who has been dealing with a nerve injury in his shoulder, back this week. The Redskins have lost four of five to start the season and are trying to build around signal caller Kirk Cousins, who has recorded a 100-plus passer rating in three of four games this season, and running back Alfred Morris, who is second in the NFL with 3,233 rushing yards since entering the league in 2012. Cardinals 27, Redskins 21 Chicago (2-3) at Atlanta (2-3) (-3), Sunday, 4:25 p.m. - Home is usually sweet for Atlanta as QB Matt Ryan is 38-10 as a starter in the Georgia Dome, including 2-0 this season, completing 52-of-67 passes for 734 yards with 6 TDs and no interceptions for a 142.2 passer rating in those games. The Bears are trying to halt a two-game skid behind Jay Cutler, who has his last two starts against the Falcons. Falcons 27, Bears 20 Dallas (4-1) at Seattle (3-1) (-8), Sunday, 4:25 p.m. - The Cowboys have won four straight games behind early MVP candidate DeMarco Murray, who leads the NFL with 670 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Murray has joined Hall of Famers Jim Brown (1958) and O.J. Simpson (1973, 1975) as the only players in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards in each of his teams first five games. The competition picks up for the Boys this week, though, as they visit the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks, who have won 19 of their past 20 games at home, outscoring opponents 584-273 in those games (15.6 points per game differential). Seahawks 31, Cowboys 17 New York Giants (3-2) at Philadelphia (4-1) (- 2 1/2), Sunday 8:30 p.m. - The Giants have bounced back from a dismal 0-2 start, winning three in a row and scoring 35 points per game over that stretch. The 4-1 Eagles have been doing it in a most unconventional way, scoring seven return touchdowns this season, tied with the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans for the most return touchdowns in the first five games of a season. Eagles 28, Giants 27 San Francisco (3-2) (-3) at St. Louis (1-3), Monday, 8:30 p.m. - After a 1-2 start, the 49ers have won consecutive games with veteran running back Frank Gore leading the way by posting consecutive games with 100-or-more rushing yards, including 107 yards against Kansas City in Week 5. The Rams nearly erased a 27-point deficit last weekend, scoring 21 unanswered points before falling short in Philadelphia as quarterback Austin Davis passed for 375 yards and three touchdowns, his second consecutive start with at least 300 yards and three touchdowns. 49ers 27, Rams 17 ' ' '
ST. Malik Hooker Jersey . JOHNS, N.L. -- Devan Dubnyk stopped all four shots he faced in the shootout and made 25 saves in regulation as the Hamilton Bulldogs edged the St. Johns IceCaps 4-3 in American Hockey League action Wednesday. The goalie played with an aggressive style in the shootout, coming out to cut the angles down early, and set the tone by poke-checking the puck away from IceCaps forward Jerome Samson on the first attempt of the night. "Its the way I play," Dubnyk said. "Some guys are different. For me, I like to get out and I feel I can move side-to-side well enough that if I get out and really give them absolutely nothing to shoot at then Ill be patient and force them to try and go around me." Dubnyk said that although the Bulldogs are virtually eliminated from the playoff race, the team still looks forward to winning games at this point in the season. "We talked about continuing the fight," he said. "We did a good job pushing to the end and we scored a huge goal in the third period. We were really close last night but we had a few letdowns that cost us towards the end of the game so it was really important to come out and do that tonight." IceCaps defenseman Jordan Hill notched two assists on the night. "Its nice to help out offensively, but I know thats not my game," Hill said. "I just try to move the puck to the forwards and let them do the work." Hill said St. Johns expected this sort of push back from Hamilton after beating them Tuesday night. "Theyre a good team," he said. "Obviously its late in the season and were trying to get every point we can here, scratching and clawing towards the playoffs. We didnt get the job done tonight." The IceCaps guaranteed themselves a playoff spot after winning Tuesdays game. Andrighetto scored the shootout winner on a quick forehand-to-backhand move before slipping the puck in behind IceCaps netminder Tyler Beskorowany. Gabriel Dumont also scored in the shootout for the Bulldogs. John Albert, Kyle MacKinnon and Adam Lowry scored in regulation for the St. Johns IceCaps (43-22-7). Greg Pateryn, Mike Blunden and Drew Schiestel answered for the Bulldogs (32-34-7). The IceCaps scored first, 1:59 into the game, when Albert ripped a wrist shot from the left faceoff dot to score high glove side. The Bulldogs equalized on a Pateryn slapshot, through a sprawled-out Beskorowany on the powerplay at the 13:41 mark of the first period. MacKinnon gave the IceCaps a 2-1 lead when he surprised the Bulldogs and ripped a quick wristshot high glove with 4:25 left in the first. Lowry backhanded home a rebound on the doorstep for St. Johns at the 17:39 mark of the second period to make it a 3-1 game. Seventeen seconds later, Schiestl pulled the Bulldogs within one from the slot with a wrist shot high glove. Blunden tipped home a puck while going to the net at the 12:54 mark of the third period, to tie the game. Beskorowany made 37 saves, and saved two of four shots in the shootout. Malik Hooker Youth Jersey . KIRKLAND, Wash. NFL Jerseys Outlet . -- A November trial has been set for U.S. womens goalkeeper Hope Solo, who is accused of assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew in June. In June, she pleaded not guilty to two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence. KOMO-TV reports her lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss the case. Her lawyer has said Solo was a victim in the altercation. A Nov. 4 trial means Solo wont miss time with the Reign or Octobers CONCACAF qualifying tournament for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. Solo appeared in court accompanied by her husband, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens. Authentic Jerseys Cheap . -- The Green Bay Packers have signed quarterback Graham Harrell to the active roster from the practice squad and placed tight end Andrew Quarless on injured reserve. NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap . -- Brendan Leipsic had two goals and an assist and Nicolas Petan extended his point streak to 11 games as the Portland Winterhawks slipped past the Red Deer Rebels 5-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.PARIS - Rafael Nadals back is giving him more trouble than his opponents so far at the French Open. After pushing his winning streak at Roland Garros to 31 matches with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 victory over 65th-ranked Leonardo Mayer of Argentina in the third round Saturday, eight-time champion Nadal said his bothersome back is forcing him to cut back on the velocity of his serves. Nadals back also acted up in January during his loss to Stan Wawrinka in the Australian Open final. "During my career, I had (a) few problems. ... Hopefully will not be (the) case" the rest of the way in Paris, the No. 1-ranked Nadal said. "I served more slowly since I started feeling the pain," he said, noting that hes worn tape on his back for extra support. Against Mayer, Nadal averaged only 102 mph (165 kph) on first serves, with a top speed of 114 mph (184 kph). That was down from an average of 111 mph (179 kph) and top of 122 mph (197 kph) in the first round against Robby Ginepri last Monday. Through six sets across his first two matches, Nadal faced only five break points and lost serve only twice. He needed to deal with eight break points against Mayer, losing two. Still, Nadal made only 10 unforced errors all match — two in the first set, three in the second, five in the third — and equaled his longest run at Roland Garros. But the last time Nadal won 31 in a row in Paris, he failed to get No. 32, losing in the fourth round in 2009 to Robin Soderling. That remains the Spaniards only defeat in 63 matches at the tournament. Nadal has dropped 19 games heading into his match against 83rd-ranked Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, who is in the second major of his career and beat Jack Sock of the United States 6-4, 7-5, 6-3. Another American, Donald Young, lost in five sets to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain, leaving No. 10 John Isner as the last U.S. man in the field. Before this French Open, the 23-year-old Lajovic had a 10-21 career record in tour-level matches, never winning two in a row. "I saw him play a few times on TV. Sure, its great to have new players on tour, young players on the tour that are coming strong. Hopefully not ttoo strong," Nadal said with a smile. Wholeslae Jerseys China. "Well see on Monday. I hope to be ready." Asked whether he would seek advice from another Serbian, No. 2 Novak Djokovic, before facing Nadal, Lajovic joked: "Yeah, I will try to ask everybody (for) some tips." That wont help if Nadal produces shots of the sort he did when Mayer served at 5-all in the second set — a stretching, scooping backhand lob to break. As Mayer watched the shot sail overhead, he waved his left hand to signal to the ball to go out, then rolled his eyes when it curled in. At the other end, Nadal pumped his fist, ahead 6-5 and well on his way to reaching the fourth round for the 10th time in 10 trips to Roland Garros. Roger Federer is the only other man to make it to the final 16 in Paris that many years in a row. The man Nadal beat in last years final, No. 5 David Ferrer, defeated No. 32 Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-2, 7-6 (2), 6-3. Ferrer now plays No. 19 Kevin Anderson of South Africa. No. 23 Gael Monfils of France put together a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 win over No. 14 Fabio Fognini of Italy in a wild match that included a point penalty for Fognini when he threw his racket and it landed near a ball boy. Monfils and Fognini combined for more than twice as many unforced errors, 137, as winners, 66. Earlier Saturday, No. 15 Sloane Stephens moved into the fourth round for the sixth major in a row. The American now meets No. 4 Simona Halep of Romania. Other fourth-round matchups: 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova against No. 23 Lucie Safavora; 2012 runner-up Sara Errani against No. 6 Jelena Jankovic; No. 28 Andrea Petkovic against 148th-ranked qualifier Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands. As the sun came out and the temperature topped 70 degrees (20 Celsius) after several days of overcast skies and occasional rain, Stephens eliminated No. 22 Ekaterina Makarova of Russia 6-3, 6-4, while Halep beat 55th-ranked Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor of Spain 6-3, 6-0. Halep is the highest seeded woman left, because of losses by No. 1 Serena Williams, No. 2 Li Na and No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska. Said Halep: "Thats a surprise for everyone." ' ' '
