NEW YORK -- Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because a pain-relief injection did not ease the effects of a bone spur in his right elbow. Pirates Jerseys 2020 . The eight-time All-Star was given a cortisone injection Monday night, soon after he felt a sharp pain in his elbow while taking swings in the batting cage during a game against the Mets. He is also taking cortisone pills. "Im getting better but not to the point where Im capable of swinging the bat 100 per cent," Beltran said. "Right now we just hope to give the injection or they give me some cortisone by mouth, pills by mouth, to try to make it better. Lets say in 15 days it doesnt get better, then we have to talk about it and make another decision." If the elbow doesnt improve Beltran would likely need surgery, which could sideline him six to eight weeks. Beltran has never had an elbow injury in his career so he is trying to focus only on returning after the 15 days are up. Manager Joe Girardi said Ichiro Suzukis back was feeling better but Alfonso Soriano started again in right field. Suzuki has been out since hurting himself trying to make a catch Sunday. Right-hander Chase Whitley took Beltrans spot on the roster. He was called up from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre to start in place of injured ace CC Sabathia in the finale of the Subway Series against the New York Mets. The 37-year-old Beltran was hitting .240 with five homers and 15 RBIs in his first season with the Yankees. Pitcher Bruce Billings was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Pittsburgh Pirates Store . The post-season, Pierce said repeatedly, is no time to panic. And the Heat, apparently, are nothing to fear. TORONTO -- Amis Holiday couldnt find a clear path to the winners circle in the Queens Plate or the Prince of Wales Stakes, so he got another chance in the Breeders Stakes. Under a clean ride from jockey Luis Contreras on Sunday afternoon, Amis Holiday cruised by horses on the outside to win the $500,000 final jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. Second to Lexie Lou in the Queens Plate on polytrack and third to Coltimus Prime in the Prince of Wales on dirt, Amis Holiday validated trainer Josie Carrolls confidence by winning on the turf course at Woodbine Race Track. "I think it says a lot about this horse," Carroll said. "Not many horses can do all three and do them well, so I just think we have an exceptional horse." Amis Holiday, who beat long shot Interpol by three-quarters of a length, was the only horse to run all three legs of the Canadian Triple Crown. The morning-line favourite who went off as the second choice at odds of 2-to-1 showed no fatigue from his third race in seven weeks and looked to be on top of his game at 1 1/2-mile. After the Prince of Wales last month, Carroll had some reservations about bringing Amis Holiday back for the 124th running of the Breeders Stakes. He had never run on turf before, but she told owner Ivan Dalos it was worth seeing what Amis Holiday had to offer. "When I put him on the course he just lit it up. I said, Boy, weve got to take a serious look," Carroll said. "The last three days hes been wanting to eat meat. Hes been really serious. Here we are and he got it done." Amis Holiday got it done in 2:30.12, paying 6.70 to win, 3.80 to place and 2.80 to show. He impressed Carroll by saving some acceleration for the finish and galloping out strong. With Big Red Bugsy setting the pace as the early leader, Contreras kept Amis Holiday in stalking position "sitting behind the speed" but not too far back in the pack. "I wanted to keep him with the other horses, keep him busy," Contreras said. "I know my horse is very brave, hes been in trouble before. He was going great." Carroll told Contrreras that "trouble always seems to find this horse and instructed him to use the big, wide turf course at Woodbine. Pittsburgh Pirates Pro Shop. The 28-year-old who won the 2011 Breeders Stakes aboard Pender Harbour did just that. "It was really well done on Luiss part," Carroll said. "I think because we run so few mile and a half races in North America, the jockeys dont ride as many and sometimes they think they have to take back, have to take back and when everybodys taking back youve got no pace in front and you cant close. "And I think he just really read this race well at every stage." Rolling along the outside down the stretch, Amis Holiday passed final-turn leader Squeeze the King and Interpol to hit the wire first. It was the horses "tremendous kick at the end" that Contreras said made it happen. Eurico Rosa da Silva, who rode Up With the Birds to last years Breeders Stakes title, thought he had a winning trip with Squeeze the King, who finished third. "When we got to the stretch, the pace was very slow, so I thought Im going to kick it in here because I had so much horse and I thought I was going to get the money," da Silva said. "But he ran a great race." Bangkok was fourth. Unikat, the post-time favourite at 2-to-1, finished last in the 12-horse field. Interpols jockey, Jesse Campbell, was thrilled the 18-to-1 shot made such a huge run to get up for second. "He was getting tired in the end, but he kept hanging in there," Campbell said. "He ran so hard. You have to be proud of him. The best horse won the race. Im tickled to run second." Carroll was glad to run second to Lexie Lou in the Queens Plate on July 6, even if a better trip mightve landed Amis Holiday in first with a legitimate shot at the first Canadian Triple Crown since Wando in 2003. "Its really tough to second guess a trip in the Queens Plate," Carroll said. "You cant take anything away from the filly that won that race. At the end of the day, she ran her race, she won it, she gets all the credit and we did it today." ' ' '
CLEVELAND -- Corey Kluber began the season as one of the question marks in Clevelands rotation. Wholesale Nike Air Max 270 . The right-hander ends May as one of the top pitchers in the American League. Kluber struck out 12 in 7 1-3 innings to continue his dominant pitching in May and the Indians beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 on Friday night. "Its fun to write his name in the lineup every five days," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "He continues to get better and better. Hes got power, movement and command. Hes pretty good." Kluber (6-3) has been a lot better than pretty good. Other than giving up a two-run homer in the fourth inning to Carlos Gonzalez, he was in complete control of the highest-scoring offence in the NL. He recorded his third double-figure strikeout game this season and ends the month with a 4-0 record and a 2.09 ERA in six starts. Kluber, who struck out a career-high 13 on May 4 against the Chicago White Sox, finished the month with 60 strikeouts in 43 innings. The right-hander allowed five hits with one walk and was given a standing ovation by the crowd of 25,066 when he was pulled after retiring the first batter in the eighth. "To do it against that lineup tonight -- thats a very difficult lineup to strike out," Francona said. "Thats as much, or more impressive as anything, to do it against that team." Kluber, who rarely shows any emotion when hes on the mound, downplayed his accomplishments and says he wasnt aware that he leads the AL with 95 strikeouts. "I had no idea, honestly," he said. "I keep saying when you guys ask me that strikeouts are a by-product of making good pitches. Im not going out there trying to strike guys out." Kluber was given several ovations as his strikeout totals rose, but he remained focused on the task at hand. "Im kind of locked in when Im out there," he said. "I dont really notice." Asdrubal Cabreras two-run homer broke a fifth-inning tie. The Indians snapped a four-game losing streak while the Rockies fell to 2-5 on their nine-game trip. Colorado didnt have a hit through three innings, but Corey Dickerson led off the fourth with a double and Gonzalez homered to right-centre on an 0-1 pitch with one out. "It was a changeup, belt high down the middle, it wasnt a good pitch," Kluber said. Rockies manager Walt Weiss, who was ejected in the sixth inning, was impressed. "That nasty breaking ball, and we knew he did coming in, but he commanded it and it was a good one," Weiss said. "It was hard and late and hes on a good run. And he threw well again tonight." Cleveland chased Juan Nicasio (5-3) with a four-run fifth. Michael Bourns single tied the game before Cabreras homer put Cleveland ahead. Lonnie Chisenhall, who drove in two runs, added an RBI double. Kluber struck out the side in the third. He took control after Gonzalezs homer in the fourth. Seven of the next nine outs were strikeouts and he got Charlie Culberson to bounce into a double play to end the seventh. Cody Allen pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. Gonzalez returned to the lineup after not starting Wednesday because of a sore right calf. He fouled a pitch off his leg Tuesday and left the game, and was limited to pinch-hitting duties Wednesday. His home run snapped an 0-for-11 slump, but Colorado has 16 runs in the first seven games of the trip and is 5 for 51 with runners in scoring position. The Rockies frustration boiled over in the sixth when Michael Cuddyer was called out on strikes by plate umpire John Tumpane. Cuddyer angrily argued the call before being pulled away. Weiss continued the argument and was ejected for the first time in his managerial career. Michael Brantley extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a fifth-inning double and has hit in 19 consecutive home games, a Progressive Field record. Jason Kipnis second-inning single snapped an 0-for-15 slump. He returned Wednesday after missing 25 games with a strained right oblique. The smaller teams just dont see his troubles transferring into a major shift in the balance of power this season. F1 decided to overhaul its rulebook after the 2013 season, when Sebastian Vettel paraded his Red Bull to victory in the last nine races to win his fourth consecutive title. However, team bosses and chief engineers told The Associated Press that the move to more expensive turbo engines, as well as numerous other changes, will only reinforce the dominance of the front-runners who are better equipped to absorb the increased costs and have money left over to spend on other aspects of their vehicles. Many of those who help run the teams that rarely, if ever, reach the podium expect the gap between the top and bottom to only get bigger. Williams chief technical officer, Pat Symonds, said the best way to encourage parity was not through change, but rather by creating "stability" that would level the technological playing field. "If you stir up the rules to make it economically more difficult, absolutely no, you are not going to make the racing closer," he said. Symonds spoke to the AP in Williams hospitality tent pitched at the end of a row of the other teams luxurious motorhomes at the Jerez track, where preseason testing is being held until Friday. Symonds joined Williams this season from struggling Marussia to help in what he called a rebuilding of the team, whose ninth and last constructors title came in 1997, last grand prix victory was in 2012, and which earned just five points last year. "Changing to the 2014 power unit and then running the 2014 power unit is very significantly more expensive than it was prior," Symonds said. "Now that hits the smaller and the mid-sized teams much harder than it does the big teams." Force India deputy team principal Bob Fernley said his team and others agreed. "The disparity between the teams that are lower down the grid annd the ones at the front is also connected to how much you can spend on development," Fernley said. Nike Air Max 270 From China. "We are all having to spend roughly 100 million euros ($135.74 million) to go racing; thats to build a car, to go to each of the 19 races. So whatever youve got above that is your development. So if youve got 10 million and Ferrari have got 100 million, theres always going to be a difference." Besides switching to a 1.6-litre V6 turbo engine from last years 2.4-litre V8 engine, the rule changes focus on boosting cars energy recovery systems, and alter their fuel limit, weight, and body. F1 also decided to award double points to the seasons last race to keep the title race alive, and fans and TV audiences interested. Caterham team principal Cyril Abiteboul called the double points decision an "artificial" fix to try to increase competition in appearance, while not in reality. Abiteboul said he supported the move to push innovation in F1 so that it could continue its mission of "preceding the automobile industry." But he said applying so many changes in one year instead of over two or three hurts smaller teams like Caterham, which didnt win a point in its first two seasons. For both Fernley and Abiteboul, the new regulations put more importance on the engine manufacturers: Renault (Red Bulls engine maker), Mercedes and Ferrari, who in addition to having their own factory teams, also sell engines to the other eight teams. For a smaller team "to win a race I think is a little bit extreme," Abiteboul said. "That would really only happen if one of the three engine manufacturers we have this season has a real performance advantage on the other two, firstly, and even if that happens I would expect that the factory team of that engine manufacturer would have an edge." Although Red Bull has managed just 14 laps through three days of testing due to engine problems, it should still be in fine shape come season end. The season begins with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16. ' ' '
BALTIMORE -- Tampa Bay left-hander Matt Moore will miss the remainder of the season after opting to have elbow-ligament replacement surgery. Fake Air Max 95 . Dr. James Andrews is to operate next week on the 24-year-old pitcher, who made the AL All-Star team last year. Moore will be the first Rays pitcher to undergo Tommy John surgery since Jason Isringhausen in June 2009. "I cant help out on the competitive side of this business right now," Moore said Tuesday before rain washed out the Rays game at the Orioles. "This is my first significant injury where Im going to be missing a lot of time." Manager John Maddon believes Moores decision will be beneficial in the long term for the pitcher and the team. "Its awful, but its great," Maddon said. "Its awful that were going to miss this guy for a bit. Its good for him to be able to get past this moment and look forward to a really long and prosperous career. Almost all of the time, percentage-wise, its a very successful operation." Moore hasnt pitched since walking off the mound with elbow soreness on April 7 in Kansas City. He was placed on the disabled list the following day. "It was an injury that I didnt think would be my ligament. I didnt think it was going to be something like that," he said. "It just didnt feel that severe." After throwing on the side Monday, Moore realized surgery was inevitable. "I dont think there was a whole lot of hesitation," he said, noting that he felt pain "on every single pitch." Moore also experienced elbow soreness last season while going 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA. He was 0-2 this year despite allowing only three runs in 10 innings. Moore is among three Tampa Bay pitchers on the disabled list. Right-hander Jeremy Hellickson is recovering from arthroscopic right elbow surgery and right-hander Alex Cobb has a left oblique strain. "Its tough," starter David Price said. "Theyre going to be working hard. Theyre going to be trying to get back here. Whenever they do, its going to be a good little shot in the butt for us, and thats what you need throughout the season." Maddon already has been forced to improvise his rotation. Left-hander Erik Bedard was going to start for the Rays on Thursday, but because of the rainout, Price will take the mound in the opener of a series against the New York Yankees. Cheap Air Max 95 China . This past season marked the final year on a two-year pact he signed with the Penguins prior to the 2012-13 season worth an average annual value of $2.3 million. Originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the first round (28th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the Penguins acquired Niskanen in the same trade that brought James Neal to Pittsburgh. Asomugha formally announced his retirement Friday at the Oakland Raiders headquarters, ending his 11-year career at the place he had his most success. "Im just grateful to be back, grateful for everything to go full circle," Asomugha said. "For all of the achievements and awards, to be able to retire as a Raider ranks highest among all of those." Asomugha made three Pro Bowls and was a two-time first-team All-Pro during his eight seasons with the Raiders when he was considered one of the leagues top cover cornerbacks. But his career quickly fizzled after signing a $60 million, five-year contract with Philadelphia in the summer of 2011. He was cut after two years with the Eagles and played just three games this season for San Francisco before being released in November. He said he had opportunities to come back since then but felt the time was right to go on with the rest of his life. Asomugha was joined at his retirement news conference by three of the Raiders best defensive backs: Hall of Famer Willie Brown, Lester Hayes and Charles Woodson. Asomugha credited all three, along with others like Rod Woodson and Mike Haynes for his transformation from a college safety to an elite NFL cornerback. "He turned into what they call that shut-down corner," Woodson said. "People just decided going into the game they werent going to throw at him. Thats a testament to his hard work." Asomugha came into the NFL as a first-round pick out of California in 2003 and became one of the rare Al Davis first-rounders to pan out in his later years running the Raiders. After taking a few years to adjust to playing cornerback after being mostly a safety in college, Asomugha thrived in the Raiders systeem that often left cornerbacks alone on an island matched up man-to-man against opposing receivers. Discount Nike Shoes From China. "When I first came into the league not too many people really knew who I was," Asomugha said. "When I first got here I was definitely called a reach. In great Al Davis fashion, he took a reach that he believed in and instilled confidence in me like nobody else could and I was able to become all that he expected of me." Asomugha had a breakthrough season in 2006 when he intercepted eight passes and was a rare bright spot on a 2-14 team. By the next season, opposing quarterbacks rarely even threw the ball his direction. In his final four seasons with the Raiders, Asomugha had just 136 passes thrown at him in 60 games, allowing just 66 completions and only two touchdowns. Asomugha was paid well for his performance in Oakland, earning $9.5 million in 2008 and then signing a $45.3 million, three-year deal the following off-season. That contract voided after his second year and he became one of the most prominent free agents after the lockout ended in 2011. After never playing on a winning team in his eight seasons in Oakland, Asomugha joined the Eagles in what was billed as the "dream team." But he never fit in to a system that had him playing zone coverage instead of being exclusively in man-to-man. Philadelphia was one of the leagues most disappointing teams in his two seasons there, going 12-20 and missing the playoffs both times. Asomugha signed a minimum contract with the 49ers last off-season but made one start and played three games before being released, meaning he will end his career having never made the playoffs. "We didnt get a championship, that was the goal," Asomugha said. "But we had a lot of championship moments here and thats the stuff I can be proud of moving forward." ' ' '

Sidney Crosby is still the best hockey player in the world. Brian Westbrook Jersey . Thats not by any means an outrageous statement and its one that not too many would disagree with, at all. As Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins prepare for Game 7 against the New York Rangers in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, there is one thing about the Pens captain, though, that is considerably less definitive. When it comes to crunch time, is Sidney Crosby still the first player you would turn to? To the northwest of Pittsburgh, in St. Paul, Minnesota to be exact, there is another captain playing tonight in a game that could see his team advance to the conference final, just as Sidney Crosbys Penguins can. In Game 6 of their Western Conference second-round series, the Chicago Blackhawks - led by Jonathan Toews - can advance to a second-straight Western Conference Final by defeating the Minnesota Wild as they continue their defence of the Stanley Cup. As a two-time Stanley Cup winner and a two-time Olympic gold medalist, has Toews taken over the mantle as hockeys preeminent go-to guy? The suggestion that Crosby wouldnt be the first player you would turn to in the clutch is by no means a referendum on his status as the games best. It isnt and the Hart Trophy hes likely going to win next month at the NHL Awards (to go along with the one he earned in 2007), confirming his status as the NHLs MVP cements that. Crosby is hockeys best all-around player and has been for some time. Still, the Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native has recently disappeared when the chips are down. Going into tonights game, Crosby has just one goal in his past 17 playoff games (of course, Rick Nash is enduring that exact same streak of futility, but thats another discussion altogether) and the indelible image of Crosby in these playoffs, thus far, was his Game 6 spear of Dominic Moore. Conversely, Toews could be looking at another Conn Smythe Trophy if he can help lead the Blackhawks to a third Stanley Cup in five seasons. While Crosby languishes with a solitary marker in this years playoffs, Toews has five in 11 games - with four of them game-winning goals. Thats now 10 game-winning goals in his career, most in his teams history. Sure, thats a long ways away from Wayne Gretzky and Brett Hulls joint record of 24 career game-winning goals in the playoffs, but its four more than Crosbys tally in eight fewer career playoff games. Perhaps, even more telling about Toewss current status of big game-breaker is that Crosby, upon being informed that he was being named Canadas captain for Sochi, reportedly wanted Toewss blessing before accepting the C. So who would you rather have in an elimination/advancement game like tonight: Sidney Crosby or Jonathan Toews? GREENBURGH, N. San Diego Padres Gear .Y. -- Henrik Lundqvist had his game-day face on at practice. He still smiled and answered all the questions thrown at him Monday about the Los Angeles Kings -- the New York Rangers long-awaited opponent in the Stanley Cup finals. "Exciting. Long flight," the star goalie said Monday before he and his teammates headed to California for New Yorks first appearance in the finals since winning the title in 1994. "East Coast-West Coast. Ill look forward to this matchup." If there wasnt already enough pressure on Lundqvist to lead his team to the championship, he is now part of the hype machine heading into Game 1 on Wednesday. Headlines are screaming: "King Henrik vs. the Kings." "Clever," he said with a slight laugh. The Rangers have been waiting since Thursday to find out if they would face the 2012 Stanley Cup-winning Kings or the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks in the finals. They took two days off before returning to practice on Sunday. Most of the players said they watched at least part of Los Angeles third road Game 7 win of this playoff year that night. So practice on Monday had a bit more focus for the Rangers as they knew exactly who was standing in their way next. "Any team you play at this time of year is a good hockey team, especially a team that has kind of been around the playoffs and the Stanley Cup finals a couple of times in the last few years," forward Derek Stepan said. "This is a very good hockey club, We have a tough challenge in front of us." The Kings returned to Los Angeles after their 5-4 come-from-behind overtime win at Chicago and took Monday off. They have played a record 21 playoff games before the finals -- one more than the Rangers, who eliminated the Montreal Canadiens in six games during the Eastern Conference finals. Before this year, no team that played seven games in each of the first two rounds had reached the finals. Now, both clubs have done it. The Kings taking it a step further with a trio of seven-game series. "When you knew you were playing L.A., the adrenaline started coming a little bit more," Lundqvist said. "Youve been thinking about this ever since you beat Montreal, but now knowing were going to L.A., it was easier to focus on whats coming. "You just try to now come back to the focus and mindset you had last week. Its been nice to get a little break here and get away from it a little bit because its been that intense." Both teams will be back to the grind on Tuesday for media day, leading up to the opener the following night. The Rangers and Kings split two games during the regular season -- with each team winning in the other clubs building -- but they havent seen each other since Los Angeles 1-0 victory at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 17. New York opened with a five-game Western road trip as final renovations were being made at the Garden. Its only win during that stretch was a 3-1 victory at Los Angeles on Oct. 7 -- a 28-save performance by Lundqvist. "Great goaltending. Great defence. Great forwards. Great special teams," Kings coach Darryl Sutter provided as a quick scouting report on the Rangers. "Were up against it again." The Rangers know that many, if not most, in the hockey world arent giving them much of a chance to win the Cup. They neither mind nor embrace the role of underdog. They have heard it before, and have just gone about their business. "When you get into the NHL, you know how hard it is to win," forward Brad Richards said. "The underdog thing and the favourite thing really doesnt mean anything in the locker room. You have to go out and play." New York needed seven games to get past division rival Philadelphia in the first round. The Rangers werent expected to beat Pittsburgh from the start, and certainly not after they fell into a 3-1 series deficit. Montreal was coming off a stirring seven-game victory over defending Eastern Conference champion Boston, so odds makers favoured the Canadiens in their matchup against New York, too. But here the Rangers are as the last team standing. "To put it quite simply, were up against the team that won the Stanley Cup two years ago that just beat the defending Stanley Cup champions, that without a doubt is battle-tested," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "We know exactly what we have to do. If we want to have a chance, were going to have to bring our best hockey of the year. Its as simple as that. "Weve had a couple of good practices, were going to have another good one tomorrow, and were going to be ready come Wednesday." He added one more thing as he left the media interview tent while wearing his sandals, to go prepare for a cross-country flight. "Bring your shorts," he said. Stitched Padres Jerseys . NEW YORK, N. Stephen Strasburg Nationals Jersey .Y. - Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner apologized Wednesday for his teams failure to make the playoffs for a second straight year and said New York is talking with general manager Brian Cashman about a new contract.Hampered by injuries to four-fifths of their starting rotation and an offence that was 13th in scoring in the 15-team American League, the Yankees went 84-78 and missed consecutive postseasons for the first time since 1992 and 93.I apologize. We did not do the job this year, Steinbrenner said on The Michael Kay Show, which is simulcast by the YES Network and ESPN New York radio. We know what you expect of us, and we expect the same thing of ourselves. We certainly did what we thought we could do in the off-season to field a pretty good team come April 1, but it didnt work out.Offseason offensive additions didnt have the anticipated impact. Brian McCann hit .232; Carlos Beltran was limited by an elbow injury and batted .233; Jacoby Ellsbury hit .252 after the All-Star break, dropping his average to .271.I would hold me responsible before anybody else, Steinbrenner said. I think they were good signings, and I think theyll turn out to be good signings.Cashman is completing a three-year contract worth about $9 million. Steinbrenner said the team and Cashman are discussion a new deal but have not reached an agreement. The 47-year-old has been GM since replacing Bob Watson in February 1998.Brian I believe is a good one, Steinbrenner said. Every general manager has signings. Some work out better than others. But everything he did in July for the most part, bringing in (Chase) Headley, bringing in (Brandon) McCarthy, (Martin) Prado, I think they all helped the team stay in it. ... I think the (Michael) Pineda trade is looking to be a really good one, as long as he stays healthy.Steinbrenner said the Yankees hope to add a shortstop to replace retired captain Derek Jeter and a starting pitcher to bolster their rotation. Ivan Nova is not expected to be ready until May following elbow ligament-replacement surgery. He said its hard to predict what Alex Rodriguez will produce following his one-year suspension for violations of baseballs drug agreement and labour contract.I dont think we can have any expectations. ... If hes healthy, he can contribute, Steinbrenner said. What hes going to be able to do playing third base remains to be seen, but if hes healthy hes going to be an asset to the team and I would never not want that.Steinbrenner wouldnt speculate whether the Yankees would feel an obligation to keep A-Rod if hes not healthy because New York owes him $61 million for the next three seasons.Lets cross that bridge when he come to it, he said.Steinbrenner did not attend Jeters final home game last week, which drew some criticism.Im not going to get into the reasons why I couldnt be there, he said. Its perfectly understandable for people to be upset about that.Steinbrenner said no decisions have been made on whether changes should be made to the coaching staff and evaluations are ongoing. He admits his late father often acted differently.I dont think its a newsflash that Im different from George in a lot of ways, he said. I do tend to be a little less rash when it comes to firing people. Nationals Jerseys China . "He always breaks sharp and settles into a good position early," said Contreras. "Well try to find our spot and hope for a clean trip." Amis Holiday, who traveled down to Fort Erie to gallop over the surface last weekend, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 over Woodbines main track on Wednesday in his final prep for the Prince of Wales. "Hes been doing everything right," said Contreras. "His fitness is excellent, hes confident and Im looking forward to the race. Well see how he handles the dirt, but he has raced behind horses on the Poly so I dont think he will mind having a bit of dirt in his face." Matador, trained by Plate winning trainer Mark Casse for John Oxley, has been installed as the 3-1 second choice. The bay son of Malibu Moon-Im Breathtaking took part in a series of U.S. Triple Crown prep races over the winter finishing fourth in the Grade 3 Sam F. Coltimus Prime (12-1, Post 6), trained by Fort Erie local Justin Nixon, will garner support from the home crowd.  The dark bay son of Milwaukee Brew-Certainly Special, with a lifetime record of 2-2-0 from eight starts, finished ninth in the Queens Plate. The dark bay colt, who can be found on Twitter @ColtimusPrime, breezed between races on Tuesday evenings card at Fort Erie with Francine Villeneuve aboard, clocked in a good :59.20. "We wanted to replicate race conditions as best we could and he moved very well over the dirt here. Were very happy with now he breezed and he came back in excellent order," said Nixon. Eurico Rosa da Silva will pilot Coltimus Prime for the first time in Tuesdays lucrative affair. "Id hate to say were going to commit to the lead at all costs," said Nixon. "We just want the race to unfold, for us to be comfortable and be in a position to win turning for home. Hes rateable. He came from last in the Blue Grass (April 12 at Keeneland) to be fifth." Lions Bay (5-1, Post 10) is the only other holdover from the Queens Plate field. Trained by Jamie Attard, the dark bay son of Sligo Bay-Lions Raw finished sixth in the Plate despite stumbling in the first few strides out of the gate bending his shoe. Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork. Adidas Nmd Dame Tilbud .com) - Make it a dozen touchdown passes in two games for Ben Roethlisberger. Its been a resurgence for his Pittsburgh Steelers offense since their lackluster Week 2 showing in Baltimore, when they didnt tally any. Roethlisberger tossed six touchdown passes and the Steelers routed the Ravens 43-23 on Sunday night. Roethlisbergers 12 touchdown passes in consecutive weeks is the most in NFL history. Big Ben went 40-of-49 for 522 yards -- the third most in a regulation game in NFL history -- and six touchdowns last Sunday, making him the first ever quarterback with two 500-plus yard games. He followed that performance up by going 25-of-37 for 340 yards. It was a big one for us, Roethlisberger said. We were slow starting but made plays down the stretch. Roethlisbergers 30-game stretch with a TD pass came to a halt in Week 2 when the Ravens thumped the Steelers 26-6. But that seems like centuries ago. Pittsburgh has scored 94 points in its last two games and topped the 50-point plateau for the first time since 1984 in last Sundays 51-34 victory over Indianapolis. Antonio Brown caught 11 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, while rookie Martavis Bryant hauled in three receptions for 44 yards and two scores for the Steelers (6-3), who have won three in a row. Joe Flacco was 30-of-45 for 303 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Baltimore (5-4), which has dropped consecutive games and sit in last place in the AFC North. The Steelers failed to pick up a first down on each of their first three drives, moved the chains a trio of times before being sacked three straight snaps on their fourth touch, but posted three consecutive touchdowns on their final three series of the opening half. A pair of Ravens turnovers on three snaps led to two of those scores in the middle stages of the second. Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats stripped Adam Taliaferro from behind and Brice McCain scooped up the fumble and returned it 26 yards to the Baltimore 27. Roethlisberger flipped a back-shoulder throw in the front left corner of the end zone to LeVeon Bell lined up in the slot, with Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley covering him on 3rd-and-goal for a 5-yard score. Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison hit Flacco as he threw from the blind side and Jason Worilds, who dropped back in coverage on the zone blitz, hauled in the easy interception to put the ball at the Baltimore 30. Roethlisberger hit Bryant on a post corner route in the front left corner of the end zone to make it 14-7 Steelers with 5:30 left until the break. When you put guys in that part of the field, they are going to have a chance to make some big plays, Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said. Justin Tucker nailed a 46-yard field goal on Baltimores ensuing march, but Roethlisberger lofted a beautifully thrown pass right into the waiting arms of Markus Wheaton along the right sideline for a 47-yard score a possession later. The extra-point snap was bobble by Brad Wing, but he was able to compose himself and hit Matt Spaeth in the right flat for two points. The third quarter went scoreless, but Brown caught a 54-yard TD pass early in the fourth. Brown hauled in an out route on Ravens cornerback Chykie Brown along the right sideline, cut back into the middle and stiff armed safety Will Hill before racing past the rest of the secondary for his touchdown. Jacoby Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 108 yards to cut the gap to 29-17. Bryants 18-yard TD catch, Crockett Gilmores 1-yard TD reception -- Baltimores two-point try following Gillmores score was unsuccessful -- and Spaeths 33-yard score capped the scoring. Earlier, following a 25-yard Jones punt return, Flacco hit a streaking Torrey Smith along the right sideline to open the scoring just over five minutes into the game. Game Notes Steelers Hall of Fame defensive lineman Joe Greene has his No. 75 retired at halftime ... Bell carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards and caught five passes for 38 yards. He didnt eclipse 100 total yards for the first time this season ... Smith had four receptions for 63 yards ... The 29-year-old Baines has established himself as one of the top attacking full backs in the country and was the subject of two bids from United during the last off-season. Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that keeping Baines at the club is a "massive boost and exciting for the future" because he brings "maturity and football knowledge in a very specialized position on the pitch" and an "infectious and positive influence to the rest of the squad. Adidas Nmd r1 Herre Tilbud. TORONTO - Sidney Crosby didnt see the fight that caused Connor McDavid to break a bone in his hand. Cheap College Jerseys . Still, the NHL superstar understands what its like to get picked on as a junior-hockey prospect.Im sure hes got a target on his back, Crosby said Thursday. Its not easy sometimes. Its one of those flukey things. But no matter how many times youve done it, even if you talk to guys who have fought for years, anything can happen in a fight and you really do have to be careful.McDavid is out five to six weeks with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal bone in his right hand as a result of hitting the top of the boards during a fight Tuesday night with Mississaugas Bryson Cianfrone.Though Erie Otters owner and general manager Sherry Bassin said hes confident his captain will be able to play for Canada at the world junior championship, the six-week time frame makes that a question mark. McDavid would be either the No. 1 or No. 2 centre if healthy.Crosby, who won a world junior gold medal in 2005, knows McDavid wants to get back for the tournament. His recommendation is for the 17-year-old phenom not to worry about it right away.I think you just try to kind of take care of the present instead of thinking about too much down the road, Crosby said. Its easier said than done sometimes.Crosby said he didnt think he ever had an official fight while playing for the Rimouski Oceanic in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.A half of one, maybe, the Pittsburgh Penguins captain said after practice at the Toronto Maple Leafs facility. They mightve gave me four minutes for roughing. With Rimouski, Crosby said he had players on the team to protect him from those situations. But thats not always a solution, as McDavid showed in the fight that got him injured.Sometimes emotion and things get the best of you and things happen, Crosby said. Im sure that his teammates and his coaches will be telling him to keep his gloves on if he can.But Crosby also conceded much has changed since 2003-04 and 2004-05 when he was playing junior hockey. The rules, there was more clutching and grabbing and things like that I think you definitely saw a lot of that, Crosby said. Its only nine, 10 years or whatever it is, but its changed even since then. A lot less fighting and things like that.McDavid, a native of Newmarket, Ont., leads the Ontario Hockey League with 16 goals and 35 assists in just 18 games this season.
